In the covid world teams have not shown any willingness to help out other teams cap situations. Schmidt is a heck of a player, but the league sees where vegas is. I’m thinking a 2nd round pick and a mid tier prospect would be as good as vegas could do.

I value Schmidt very very highly. I still think this is a steal of a deal. Especially if they top 10 protect the first rounder.

Agree with that, They get a 2nd and mid prospect at most LOL. No chance they get weegar and a 1st. Also, fleury trade is close, but they’d likely even have to retain and they’re not getting any retention on Bernier.

Both Detroit and Florida declines, You're not getting that kind of return for Schmidt. Plus Detroit's not taking on Marc Andre-Fleurys full $7 million for the next 2 years and then eating $1.5 million on Bernier as well.

Chevy paid for Stastny, I'd say that he helped Vegas out with that deal, doubt anyone else was calling for Stastny.

Schmidt is a legit top 3 dman. Vegas fell off hard when he was out with injury. I think this would be a steal of a deal for Florida to make.

As for Detroit. They only do this because they get a first and a 2nd in next years draft. They take the full cap hit but get highly compensated. And Fleury can still play.

For a 1st and a 2nd they may take on the entire cap. And value wise, Vegas is selling low on Schmidt in this deal. The guy is a stud.

It doesn’t matter what Schmidt is. The matter of the fact is that we just saw Devon toews get moved for 2 seconds and he’ll cost 2m less than Schmidt and he can play top 4. Schmidt has an almost 6m cap hit for 5 years. I get he’s good, but in a flat cap world where $$ matters. Not to mention that the whole league knows how much cap Vegas has to move is an issue. Look at tampa, no one wanted to trade for Johnson, hell he didn’t even get picked up off of waivers. I get he’s no where near as good but the point is the same. Teams are not committing large amounts of cap like that if they have to dump it unless it’s a major underpayment or a team is paying to move the player.

We will see what happens. I don't love the idea of Vegas moving Schmidt. I think they should do everything they can to keep him. I just made this team based on Rumours. (Florida is rumoured on Schmidt) and I personally foresee this type of trade happening with Detroit or Ottawa if they decide to spend money.

We will see what value comes out of it!

I just think you’re really really far off on value. The world knows vegas has to move money. No ones going to give them premium futures to do it.

It will cost more to move Fleury, every team knows how bad of a spot Vegas is in now. They have to move what 10m?? No chance a gm is doing them a favour, Chevy did them one and they still have to move 10m in cap lol. I guarantee you see a 2nd and 3rd at most to Vegas for Schmidt. Fleury alone costs 1 first, potentially 2 considering how much marleau and staal have cost to move.

That Detroit trade is a joke and has absolutely no chance of ever happening. Whatever team brokers the MAF trade and takes that cap is going to put the screws to VGK.

They didn't have to pay to dump Stastny, any GM with balls would of said give me something with him or keep him, Chevy's a sucker.

I don't hide when I am wrong.

Benning just won that trade HARD. He has done nothing up until this point. And just won massively.
