Description
I think he did a good job.

Good 2nd goalie.

I would only like 1 more move . Sign Martin and find a taker for Byron .
I give Bergevin B+ for the offseason. I like all the player he brought and the deals he gave are not bad , exempt Anderson term).

Agreed. He literally addressed needs we had for years (speedy/scoring power forward, quality backup, 3 scoring lines, being able to bring in a quality UFA, good defensive depth). He did all of this and only gave up Domi and some depth picks (he didn’t even give up any prospects or high picks!!!). He has an A+ in my books.

I can’t remember when our team was this good on paper to be honest. Most of our runs were miracle runs lmao.

so far ... 7/10
+ :
- Toffoli contract
- Jake Allen Trade
- The team has gotten better

- :
- Domi-Anderson trade
- 7 years for Anderson
- Overpayment for Edmundson (we are over the cap ... i think)
- Questionnable pick at 16 (Guhle is a good player but he is not what we need but this pick could turn into a good pick if our LDs underperform)

I mean Toffoli and Anderson on the PP is probably better than Domi (who was frustrating to watch when he kept shooting shots that wouldn’t go in) and Weal (nuff said).

Anderson had 3 two years ago. It will be better and maybe those two plus Weber shooting you might squeak out a decent pp

I wouldn’t have picked Guhle, but he was easily the best value pick at 16. Sure, Mercer (who is probably the only player I would of taken over Guhle anyway) filled a bigger need, but D like Guhle have gold trade value and are rare.
Anderson is a player MTL has needed for decades. A fast, talented, scoring power forward with hearth who knows where to draw the line. He is literally the perfect match for Suzuki and Drouin. Sure, we might have overpaid, but Domi didn’t have a spot on the team necessarily and Anderson is still a good top 6 goal scorer.
Edmundson is very comparable to Chiarot before he came to MTL. They are very similar players. He will probably perform similarly here. Don’t see how this is a bad contract. Even if he plays on the third pair, the $$$ value isn’t awful and he will make our D meaner (which was an issue when Weber/Chiarot wasn’t on the ice) while bringing SC experience. While Kulak-Petry was a good pair, Petry could excel offensively even more if he had a good defensive D next to him, which is what Edmundson is.

I think those are the only possible things you COULD question. I think those contracts are fine, but I can see how they are worrying. Edmundson and Anderson are great addition IMO. I can understand however if you aren’t a fan of their advanced/regular stats though.

If the coaches could use Weber on the PP properly, our PP could actually be good.

i agree that acquiring anderson was a good move but i just think that we couldve gotten a 2nd in that deal. Edmundson is a very good player but we are way too close to the cap hit and i just think that we have enough LHD with Romanov coming.

Because I got concerned he wouldn’t pick up a free agent. Toffoli is a good add but COMPLETELY changes the offseason. It’s an A+ with him and a b without him

Oh yeah I definitely don't think Edmundson or Andersen are bad players - I just think Edmundson isn't as good as some people say he is. He's more like a 2.5 million player if you ask me and I probably wouldn't give him an NTC, but it's not super risky one in the end. Just a bit of an overpay. And Anderson...I dunno, that trade was just bad value-wise for Montreal. Then on top of that you're giving a 3-4 million dollar player 5.5 for the next 7 years...that's pretty risky. I definitely think he has the potential to live up to it, but Bergevin must really feel like he knows what he's doing here, because that's a big gamble.

Good post but I think we had a good pick with Gulhe at 16. This kind of prospect are worth gold . So I see it has a good pick . Edmundson i think it an okay contract . I need to see more before judging but it’s fine for now I think

Anderson scored 27 goals playing on the pk, had over 220 hits and fought. That guy is worth more than 5.5. That’s a very valuable player. If he’s healthy and scoring 25-30 that’s a steal. Edmundson is a tad overpaid but is a physical lhd who playing with petry and under Julien might be solid

Big if on Anderson though. I'm not saying you're wrong because you have a point, but if he ends up being an average 20-25 goal, 40 point guy, it will probably be fine. 7 years is just a lot of term imo.

I love everything he’s done other than the Edmundson signing. I’m not saying he’s a bad player but how did we not take notice to kulaks play during the playoffs as much as we did kk and Suzuki. Now after the signings everyone is looking at moving kulak out I would’ve preferred to never have made a deal for Edmundson at all

I'd give Bergevin an A-, he addressed all of the needs without giving up prospects / young players, I love the Toffoli singing, and improving our goaltending and defense, and I like getting Josh Anderson, I'm just not a fan of the contract, or what we gave up, plus Guhle at 16 wasn't the right pick to me. But Bergy did address all of the needs, added draft picks for next year, and did it all without giving up too much. Now I'd just like to see Gallagher and maybe Danault get extensions, and move the Byron contract if it's possible, probably move Kulak / Weal as well.
