IMO it has to be 8m at least if you want to be serious. Nashville can offer 8.25m no prob.

22/23 could be an option

At 7 years? AAV at 8 is hard to believe. Hall will regress badly in 4-5 years. You’d be essentially giving him 11m aav the first 5 years.

I don’t believe any team will do that. Insanity in these times
Exactly why OEL couldn’t be moved

Hudon and a 2nd won't get Byron moved.
I don't know Ottawa's biggest organizational needs are
but
you would probably have to add LD prospect Norlinder to move Byron
or
another highly rated prospect like Norlinder someone like RW Ylonen

Whatever it takes to move that contract, preferably I'd throw in Mete since apparently some people think he has value.

It’s funny eh
You can tell whom doesn’t watch any hockey but relies on the charts and fancy stats with Mete.
It’s a fun exercise

There's 5 team chasing him, I easily believe it. It drives up his price

At 8m, you underpay him half of the contract, and overpay him the other half

It evens out IMO and it's a reasonable offer

edit : also the decline would not be this drastic with this kind of player he is. He's not a powerforward. 10/10.5/9.5/8/7/6/5 = his worth

I'm already prepared for Hall to go to Nashville!
Thanks but no thanks at that AAV and term. I've heard rumours of 9m AAV on 7 year term as well but they are just rumours from "insiders" like Pagnotta.

Habs need a guy that win draws and a LW that can score on the PP. They should go the trade route.
Teams are getting desperate to move money.
Internal caps around the league!
This is a game of chicken, no one wants to sell cheap but someone will soon, and then the Habs can pounce like on Anaheim's Rakell for example.

Indeed, if his name is really Marc "bargain bin" Bergevin, he could get valuable players at 0 cost via trades

Clearing Byron+Kulak+Weal (or even Tatar) is a hard task too this offseason, he'll get no value. He'll offer bargains instead of taking some...
