Im aboutta get roasted, but the leafs arent as bad as most people think. I think brodie pushes them over the edge.

Leafs have missed round 2 by a hair on three occasions. They will be better.

I guess the plethora of young players on the team definitely won't ever get better. Matthews at 23 won't get better, or Marner, or Nylander, or Robertson, or Rielly, Dermott, Sandin, Liljegren etc. None will get better, it's just the rules.

Tampa can't give away Johnson and will definitely hurt this off season. Boston is older and won't continue to run away from father time. Who else is in the way in their division? They're a good team and still so young, the best is yet to come.

No, I fully agree. The additions of Brodie and Simmonds puts them in a great spot, I expect them to win a round next year at least.

I think they have added what they need. In terms of the actual players they have, are they better than last year? I don't know. But I think the fits are better, and I think they have young guns that could drastically improve and turn some heads. Also some KHL signings that can do the same.

For example, I think the fit of a better-defensively Brodie compared to Barrie will do wonders for the team

Exactly. Just like @PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood explained, everyone else in the atlantic is aging or cant re-sign everyone.

I think Canadian teams are really on the rise and will dominate the league in the next 10 years.

Some of them. Most of the Canadian teams have a lot of problems. Situations were they have older players with huge contracts that will be declining. Montreal has Price and Weber, Jets Little and Wheeler, Canucks with Myers and Erikson. Ottawa will have a really good team eventually although I am not sure they have enough centre star power. Still going to be really good. TO and Ottawa are the best Canadian teams as far as not having bad contracts and long term cap issues.

100% agree.

Edmonton is kind of stuck in the middle here. Theyre kind of good, but propped up by C-Money and Drai. If they cant get any bona-fide top line wingers, theyre burning the best years of mcdavid and draisatl.

Toronto is one of the few teams who can say that they don’t have any dead contracts but in saying that they lack so much

I’m honestly intrigued that you think these players are going to become better? They (big 3) are more than likely at their ceiling which is pretty high tbh. They need to gain experienced and learn how to play playoff hockey. They are soft. hard work beats talent most of the time but if talent works hard ..... this is what they need to figure out

I think MR looked amazing. I’d say Matthews was really good. Nylander Marner and JT weren’t great. That’s my opinion. They had 3 players playing really well the rest of the team was average at best the majority of the time. Flashes of great play but nothing consistent enough for me to credit the top 6 as terrific

They also have a garbage defence, questionable goaltending and several bad contracts.

What do they lack? I imagine it'll be a bunch of bull**** nonsense that there is no proof of.

One of the only teams that has as much top end talent as TO just won the cup and it wasn't the grinders who won the day, Point, Kucherov and Hedman were the ones who carried the day. Took Hedman until now to get over the hump but Matthews is a failure because he didn't win 3 cups in his first 3 seasons.

As for your question of why I think they will get better, because that is what happens with young players. Look at MacKinnon's first 300 games and compare it to Nylander, look at Matthews or compare Kane to Marner in the same age years. Almost all players hit their peak around 24-25, Nylander is the oldest and just turned 24 this year. All of these guys are going to get better but of course TO players peaked before they entered their prime.

Haha leaf fans suck. Every time someone asks you a simple question you get all wahhhhh wahhhhh “bc it’s a leaf player they are this or they aren’t that.” Matthews isn’t a failure bc he didn’t win a cup I think it’s more focused on him not winning a series lmfao. I was asking bc I think they are already where you would assume their ceiling would be... it’s very possible they hit their prime which is 90-100 point players lol. Seems fair to assume they might become 110-120 point players but most players that hit those numbers aren’t complete 200 foot players. No need to a crybaby or a leafs vs the world guy. That’s just annoying. Also completely disagree the grinders had a massive role in them winning the cup but let’s ignore that part.

I think a the Canadian cup drought is going to end in the next 10, maybe 5 years.
