Great, another small undersized winger who doesn't hit, pk, or play defense. Great. Good value but who is gonna play on the PK and get the tough starts in the Devils defensive zone?

He had more points and goals than Josh Anderson last year + he's 5 years younger.

And we didn't have to pay him $5,500,000 x 7 years.

I think that's a win.

I laugh how that's your go to because you know it's a bad deal.

Leafs got relief and devils got a useable winger - good deal

I agree. It's way to early to say anything more than that!

They don't make very good moves. The Brodie was good, but the Leafs overpaid. Not my fault if your GM can't do anything good.

Not sure how you can say anything considering your GM just sign Josh Andersson for 5.5Mx7 and traded Domi and a pick for him...

New Jersey Obviously Wins this trade for the player they got for what they gave up BUT this was absolutely needed to be done by Toronto to free up the CAP Space to make things happen. Thank God Kyle Dubas is FINALLY listening to people who know what they are talking about.

Maybe if you took of your "homer" glasses you would be able to see it, but obviously not

I'm still shocked as to how little value some guys have due to the economic situation. In any other year, Johnsson would indeed go for a 2nd, and guys like Murray/Nutivaara/Stastny/Maatta would fetch significantly more.

TOR definitely takes a loss to save money, but Anderson is someone I've always liked. It's not a pure dump; he has some skill and could carve out a nice career as a 3RW.

Not sure if I prefer a player return over a pick.

Still, necessary trade.

Actually with the right development (still got time as he is young) Joey could become a similar player to Coleman which is something we need. The tweet is someone who explains why this is a steal for both sides and heck friedman retweeted it

Pietrangelo incoming?

Not likely, they still have two RFAs to resign who will probably cost 2M each.

Leafs get a younger winger with a lower cap hit and a style more adapted to the team's needs. Hope to see him play this year. Good trade for both teams.

You don't think the Josh Anderson signing is a bad deal for Montreal?

They guy Toronto traded Johnsson for (Joey Anderson) is a 2016 third round pick.
And he has outperformed his draft since most 2nd / 3rd round picks never make the NHL.

Neither is getting 2 million unless they sign for 3+ years.

My guess is they'll average 1.4 million.

No I honestly don't. There's big risk, sure. but there's also huge upside to this deal if you take your homer glasses off. There aren't many players in the league that do what Anderson does. I wouldn't expect a Leafs fan to understand, but do some research on Anderson and will realize it's great contract if he returns to form

He has played 6 NHL seasons and has surpassed 30 points only one time.
You say do research ... What do you mean ?

He plays a game that very few NHL player do. There's a reason Tom Wilson makes over 5 Million dollars. Ideally Anderson becomes a better version of Wilson (his 27 goal season proves he can do that). Leaf fans would drool over the thought of having a player like Anderson. You do in Simmonds, but he's washed.

I have Dermott at 2x2 and not sure about Mikheyev, but I cant see him getting less than 2M unless it's a 1 year deal.

Simmonds in a top 6 role is washed, but not in a bottom 6 role which is the role he will have.

I understand you are trolling, but you have to come up with a better argument than that if you want to troll. If you did any ounce of research you would realize Anderson was playing with a major shoulder injury and couldn't play how he was suppose too. I heard it from you about how Domi was trash and how he could only score empty net goals, how did that work out for you?
