Description
Maybe if we profited from the fact that the leafs need to shed some cap like yesterday. Even tho I doubt the leafs would give Johnsson to a division rival.

Was thinking about that, giving them a depth defenseman that is a good upgrade on Marincin and Rosen and that you can leave in the minors before season starts so his cap hit doesn't affect you like Ouellet

Exactly my thought. Also we have enough left wingers with Drouin,Tatar, Lehkonen and Byron and potentially Hall

This proposal is more like: if we don't get Hall, can we get a more offensive winger to play with KK and that is fast-paste-mtl-type

You realize Johnsson only has 3 goals 5-5 this year? His career high is 20 goals if miss out on hall this should not be a plan b.

Toronto will either have to place him on waivers or pay a pick to move the contract. Now that they’re over the cap they have their pants down. Tyler Johnson same scenario. Player is worth something but teams aren’t going to help them shed cap now

Johnsson had 8 goals in 43 games (he was hurt last year) and Lehkonen (who is a player I really like) had 13 in 70 games. I just think it is a little offensive upgrade on Lehki's production and would be pretty cheap to get. You could always offer him up to Seattle if you're unhappy with his production (and get to keep Lehki and Armia)

Lehkonen doesn't play the PP (where Johnsson got most of his goals last year) and doesn't have a center like Matthews to carry the play and draw attention away from linemates. Lehkonen also doesn't have near the cap hit. Johnsson is not an upgrade by any means, and more realistic trade proposal is Johnsson and a very high draft pick for Mete. Although I doubt Montreal would be interested in Johnsson. Montreal trying to get bigger, tougher, and more scoring (something Johnsson does not provide unless Matthews comes with him). The fact he was hurt last year just drops his value that much more, his only real asset is his speed and he had a major leg injury. At this stage, he is strictly a cap dump for a team that MUST shed money just to be cap compliant for the new year.
