It's a 2-way deal for a guy with a career .920 sv% in the AHL - how could this possibly be bad?

Uh, it's a 2-way deal. Clearly he's destined for the AHL.

Hey, he's not going to be the backup, calm down everyone... They will sign someone else (Greiss, Dell??), he is going to play in Bakersfield

This is a very under appreciated signing by Holland. I had him on my wishlist and will be the #3 tender in the org.

I see him as the type of goalie who comes out of nowhere to become a bonafide NHLer. Right age and experience, it takes most goalies eons to make it, usually in the 26 to 28 year old age range.

He will be great to have if injuries impact the NHL roster.

So who is the #2 goalie? Look at the free agent market. There isn't really anyone left who I'd rate much higher than Forsberg. Maybe Dell? Maybe Hutchinson? Do they bring Smith back? Or bring in Miller, Schneider, Howard...? Not looking good for a solid tandem from free agency right now. Unless they have a trade in the works, I don't see Forsberg being anything less than a backup to Koskinen, which is not ideal at all. Besides, do you really want Forsberg stealing games from our three young tenders in the minors?

I was hoping for a trade with Columbus or a trade for Francouz, something like that. I didn't expect a Smith signing, but a better move than for MAF in my opinion.

Edmonton needs a reliable 3rd G, see what happened to the Avs? Skinner will be the #2 in the Bake and that is fine, goalies take forever and Skinner has more work to do.

Wells is as much of a suspect as a prospect, he will be out of the org next year and should be in the ECHL along with rookie po Rodrigue.

Fair enough. I suppose it is too much to expect a Skinner - Wells/Rodrigues tandem in the AHL being successful. I'm sure Forsberg will keep Skinner more competitive at any rate, and ya it does provide more depth overall at the position in case of injury. Pretty much seals him as the #3 with Smith's contract. Koskinen - Smith here we go again.
