Why would the Hawks have any interest in Varlamov for 3 years $15 million? If this were the case they'd just offer Crawforf 1 x 3.5. Good luck getting rid of that contract.

I think you forgot Dobson to CHI... not a serious comment, but we don't want Varlamov and his albatross cap.

Name any sane GM that's taking on Varlamov for 3 years $15 mil? When they can just sign Greiss for 2 x 3.5 and not give up assets for it.

Everyone knows the NYI system is due to Trotz commitment to the forwards playing D. You don't go from...literally...last in the Jennings to FIRST in Trotz 1st year without a system shift. Crow >>> Varlamov. If we didn't sign Crow...FOR FREE...were not losing assets for a worse goalie on a higher cap hit.

Honestly...if he were a UFA, yeah ok. But not for a trade losing assets.

Varlamov had a .920 in 17-18, had a down season in 18-19 with a .909, and bounced back this year.

if you really think hes a bad goalie you are clueless, good luck finding someone better now that most of the UFA's are gone

Crow's still out there??? ... IDK if he really is or not. But none of that matters. Stans specifically said...were going with our young goalies. We can debate whether or not that's the right move, but he's not a liar. Call him a bad GM if you want. I don't think he is, but unless Crow comes back...hes going to give those kids a chance.

You just gave OTT a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Pageau. Pageau doesn't score. Saad won't get the 2nd or 3rd, but he'll get the 1st at the TDL. That's when Stan should trade him........IF he refused to extend.

Dude no one here is suggesting that Varlamov is a bad goalie, On the contrary he's an excellent goalie. Just doubt many team have interest in that contract when there's other better options out there.

Pageau was before the Pandemic hit, if you see Murray and Stastny getting mid/low round picks what makes you think Saad is getting a 1st

Easy. TDL. Its a HUGE difference. Evey year cup contenders trade away their 1st rounders. Every Year ~6 teams do. It's just how it goes.

Never said he was a bad goalie, it’s about the cap hit and term. Hawks are not a team looking to add a goalie at 5 mil for the next three years. You will be paying them to do something like that. They could get Fleury for less term and same cap hit (with retained money) AND get a first round pick in the process. Why would they do this when an offer like that is on the table? Still 100% can find a goalie in UFA if they wanted to
