So Columbus trades 2 NHL defensemen for pretty much nothing today. But in doing so they clear $7.35 million in cap space. Plus another $4 million with the Wennberg buyout. The Blue Jackets are absolutely going for some big names in free agency. I’d assume Hall, plus someone else. Right now this is a bad deal for the Blue Jackets on paper, but that could change depending on who they sign.

And great deal for the Devils, getting a good defenseman for next to nothing.

Murray is always injured. I think it's a solid move. 4.6 million off the books.
He wasn't a top 4 defense man in CBJ. That's a lot for a bottom pairing guy.

After the move this morning I thought Murray was safe. It was one or the other... never saw both. This organization is expecting big things for Gavrikov, Kukan, Carlsson and Peeke I guess. Gavrikov solidified himself into Murray's spot this playoffs. The others will fill out the bottom pair.
