If they think he’s a player with value, all of a sudden I am starting to believe less in the vision...

I think it’s not a bad move but it’s a weird move. They want a guy to eat minutes I guess and maybe trade at TDL if he’s playing well I guess.

It’s fair but mainly just real good for the ducks

Not sure why guys wouldn’t want to go to a team with a future as bright as the Sens. Should be the MOST attractive market for guys like AA looking to stay in the league and increase their stock for a future contract.

I think they just want a player to actually play 15-20 without forcing a rookie or a guy who can’t to do so. Not saying Erik will give you a amazing 15-20 but he’ll fill the role

yeah it was for a 5th rounder. We have so many unkowns on our right side next year i think he serves the purpose we need him for. Local guy too

I mean big names like Hoffman, Hall, Dadanov, etc who will cost want to play on contenders. AA gets like 2.5 at most? but I mean anyone signing over 3 million likely does it elsewhere unless obviously its an RFA from your team like Tierney

i mean i think it depends. Anyone in that 25-27 range is within the range to be competitive with the sens future core. Just need to be nice and patient haha

Yeah we aren’t attractive to top-tier UFAs but mid- to low-tier UFAs should find Ottawa appealing if they want increased ice time. Idk, I would much rather have signed Stecher and/or AA than trade for Gudbranson. Hopefully he gets outplayed by Zaitsev, Zub, and Brown, or dealt at the deadline

I consistently question their amateur scouting, but they prove me wrong consistently enough that they deserve the benefit of the doubt more often than not. When it comes to the pro scouting side, I have legitimate concerns about their talent evaluation ability. When it comes to pro hockey acquisitions, the strategy seems to be get a local guy or get a guy who played for *insert head coach* in the past. By and large they just don't get good players very often. Two notable exceptions recently are Connor Brown which also came with the worst player currently on the roster in Zaitsev, and Duclair who was literally just a throw in contract for CBJ and they just let him go for nothing.

Figure out whatever is the worst possible combination of 7 of those guys, and that's what they'll go with.

Johnny tychonick would get the call-up to make that happen

It's still not too late to circle back on Andreas Englund.

Englund-Gudbranson plays 20 mins per night next year. Wikstrand-Kleven gets 23 😉

I literally have nothing to protest about this. I find both questionable, but the pro side hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt. How long did we hang onto Ceci, only to trade him for Zaitsev, who was signed longer? I do like that they're high on CBrown but that's because he's actually a good player, they should be high on him lol. I thought JBrown was questionable because his comparable was Gudbranson, but his defensive numbers were better. Now we actually got Gudbranson, the guy I was scared JBrown would be lmao, next thing you know they'll sign JJ or bring Ceci back 😬

I will say I don't like their strategy of "acquire local kid" any more than I like the strategy of "acquire friend of guy we own" both of them suck and we should be targeting the best players available. If two are equal in all other aspects then maybe we get the friend, but that should be weaponized for the shock factor of getting rid of one of them if the team is playing bad, which I doubt they'll do. I'm worried this team will turn into a bunch of fat and happy buddies just having some fun and not taking anything too seriously at this point. Also seems like the room could get rather clique-y but idk

does Zub have a 2 way deal? if not, that 4 RD signed on 1 way deals this year, that leave no room for prospects, and wasent Zub attracting interest from several teams only to sign hiom to send him to bellville...i do not think dorion knows what the hell he is doing unless he has a taker for zeitsev....
