Max Domi is severely overrated but this deal is still a major win for Columbus. Josh Anderson is a solid middle six winger, while Domi can be a consistent second line forward.
Taking a closer look at this, both players seem to hover around 40 points per season (aside from Domi's fluke 70 point season). Considering this, plus the fact that Anderson will be significantly cheaper cap wise, this deal isn't nearly as bad as lots of people are saying.
Still a win for Columbus, but certainly not a fleece.
If this was the price then why didnt teams like MIN, WPG, etc make offers? He's worth a shot for a team looking for a top 6C, and this seems like it could have easily been outbid
Is Domi worth Laine, Pionk, and 10th overall? No ... but I think he's worth more than this.
remember the Domi for Nylander trades. Yeah that was never happening. Heck Kerfoot for Domi and a 3rd could have happened lul. Dammit Dubas you missed another chance to commit a robbery. We could have been 2 for 2
From the start I've been saying this is a fair trade. This was one of my favorite ideas on the site. But habs fans kept advertising Domi as something he isn't. The most overrated player on this website has been moved for a package he is legitimately worth.
This feels great. After all those months of habs fans yelling at me for what they said was a bad take.... it warms my heart. Humble your strong personalities, MTL.
As to the deal itself - its a win win. Overrated players aside, MTL gains physical presence and a need on RW. CBJ gains a middle six center. Both are risk players. Both gain something. Domi isn't worth a hair more.

Anderson has scored 0.5 p/gp in a year once ... Domi has all 5 years of his career.
I've been saying it for months but Domi just is not that valuable of an asset. He's skilled as hell but he turns the puck over constantly since he forces extremely high risk plays and he insists on playing center despite his game being much more suited for wing.
