Y would do it to get two more first round picks. Mantha worth more than two firsts? I hope you're joking. But if you're not, Mantha is looking for $6m+ and has yet to eclipse the 50-point plateau. In no way, shape, or form should Y be handing out that type of money at this point in a rebuild, especially if you're realistic and understand that you'd have to resign Mantha to another contract before your team is in a position to contend again. For Vegas, they would be getting Mantha as a final piece to a Cup run, while also having Cap space freed up for a potential acquisition at next season's trade deadline. For Y, he'd be getting two firsts for taking on an expiring contract in Stastny and also have a bridge quality goaltender with Stanley Cup-pedigree while awaiting Askarov and Larsson. Then, at next season's deadline, if Fleury or Stastny garner interest, you can flip them for even more draft capital. The move has nothing to do with Fleury or Stastny in the sense of thinking they're part of a rebuild, but it's with the vision of adding as many darts as possible to expedite the rebuild and using our cap space as a weapon while we can.

Reporters are saying that teams are asking for a 1st plus a 2nd and Vegas must retain 33% of Fleurys salary for a cap dump. I’m sure Statsny ask would probably be a 1st as well. Mantha is also a lot more valuable then your giving him credit for. He’s a 6’5 pure goal scorer who is only 26. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy, but I really don’t see the Wings giving up on him in a rebuild unless they get a kings ransom. Not to mention if you don’t think the Wings will pay him what he wants with having a plethora of cap space, what makes you think Vegas would?

I don’t see this trade happening with Mantha being involved. Vegas is going to have to give up a lot to get out of those 2 contracts, and I don’t see them getting any assets back.
