Sharks cannot afford those two players, let alone losing true who’s likely gonna be a roster player for us who played well in his debut games

The Sharks have 14 million in cap space, they are trying to move Jones, and the only sort of big name RFA/UFA they have to sign is Labanc. They can easily afford Kerfoot and Johnsson. True is a depth peice. I really don't think he has a higher ceiling then a 4th line player. You already have enough of those and you can afford to move him. Kerfoot and Johnsson are both better then True will ever be anyway.

Lol unless Canes fans see Nylander they say no. Wake up. Nylander has much more value then Pesce. That trade would be Hall for Larsson 2.0.

Firstly we aren’t gonna move Jones as it’s likely we run Dubnyk and Jones (unfortunately). We can only move Jones if we take a bad contract back.
We are just acquiring Donato (2 mil)
Labanc is gonna cost 3-4 mil

That brings us under 10 mil needing more than 3 depth forwards, and a defensive 3rd pair guy and still waiting for a goalie (likely dubnyk, who will be 2-4 mil)

1 mil for Noesen
1 mil for jumbo if he resigns
I see us signing Karlsson for 1 mil.

So no, we cannot afford those guys unless we move money out

If Carolina had a one year window they might do that, but they don’t so they won’t. Andersen as a one year rental is not worth much of anything to Carolina

Labanc didn't have a great year (compared to his previous one at least), so I don't see him over 3. Donato will cost 1 at most. You can have a bottom pairing guy at league minimum or at least less then 1 million. Dubnyk's contract is actually less then Jones, so even if you do include Donato it's the same amount in as out. I think your overestimating these contracts a bit, especially in a flat cap year. I mean I don't blame you because that tends to happen a lot on here, but the Sharks can 100% afford to make these trades.

Oh so the 1st, 2nd, and decent defenceman are useless then?

Isn't the rumour Jones for Dubnyk (a trade). And there is also a very low chance that actually happens it could literally just be a rumour. I don't think Sharks management would do that to their team

Russo confirmed jones isn’t interesting to Minny unless that changed in the last 10 hours.

Donato is signed for 1.9

Labancs contract projections are above 3, likely 3.5x4-5years
He wasn’t bad his team was bad (there a article on him and his projection).

Dubnyk is signed at 4.3 mil and will be retained probably we just don’t know how much.

We can’t afford 6 mil in 2 forwards plus Labancs 3 plus Donato 1.9 plus still needed depth and plus d and plus a goalie.

We need to move money first.

Wake up. Unless the Canes see something that makes their roster better long term, they aren’t accepting a trade. Y’all refuse to accept this point and think you can throw futures and cast aways at us to accept. Pesce doesn’t have to move, unless the roster gets better he is staying.

I know this is hard for some Leafs fans, but here are some things you have to understand before you propose trades with Carolina:

1. The Carolina Hurricanes are in a window of about 4-5 years to compete for a Stanley Cup. They have a core of young talent on mostly affordable contracts, including Aho, Teravainen, Slavin, Pesce, Svech, and Necas.
2. They also have a lot of promising young players in their system, including Bean, Suzuki, Bokk, Rees, etc.
3. They aren't trading those core NHL players for draft picks, prospects, or downgrades. See #1 and #2.
4. Goaltending was never really the problem with Hurricanes last 2 seasons. They aren't desperate to make a change. Anderson for 1 year isn't really that valuable given Canes can stick with current tandem.
5. Canes blueline is deep, but has issues. They gave up some of highest rates of high danger chances in NHL. Pesce and Slavin are two best defenders.
6. Canes have cap limitations, especially with big new contracts on the horizon for Svech and Hamilton after this season. That adds to how the Canes value players like Pesce, who is on an incredible contract.

If you consider that Leafs have a forward strength and want a better blue line, while Canes have blue line strength but want better top 6 scoring... that's where the trade talk should happen.

12 mil in cap space that is about to become 8 mil.
They are not trying to move Jones
They cannot afford Kerfoot, Johnsson, and Labanc. One of them is already with the team.

Uh yes he would? without Pesce the only person behind Hamilton who plays RHD is Fleury, and he isn't even a right shot.

Ok so he’s a 6D then. What would be the point in Carolina doing this trade? They get significantly worse on the right side of D and get a minor upgrade in goal based off last years stats. The picks don’t make up for the negative effects this has on Carolina
