HORRIBLE trade for Hawks. Murray alone isn't worth a 1st, add the worst player in the world the value turns into a BIG FAT 7th round pick!!

hawks decline and it's not close. Not taking back cap dumps as we are cap strapped as it is, don't really need ZAR, and Murray is worth a 2nd and the hawks would rather keep their assets as a retooling team and resign crow instead

Pens GM has been even more questionable than Stan has, and it takes a lot to be worse than Stan lol

You think penguins fans care........now that is funny.
Like we've been waiting for this day for 2+ years now.
Like, buyout who cares? It's only 1 million. But hey, you retained on Maatta, thanks for taking that off our hands. enjoy it!

No I actually don't think he has value and I was just adding in JJ to the trade to get him off our roster as I predicted he would be bought out because no teams wanted him even for "Future Considerations". Nearly called it perfectly and IF this trade would have happened I would have earned a medal for my chest. HA

Well BUD I almost called the whole thing with this post as I posted this yesterday. I know Chicago is NOT taking JJ. The trade is just for Murray and etc. JJ was going to be bought out because there is no other option because no teams wanted him.

YES today should be a National Holiday!!! LOVE IT!!! I posted these moves yesterday and was almost SPOT on. Called the RFA's and almost the trade. I Only put JJ into the trade because I wanted him off the roster. I knew the only option was a buyout and an SO thankful that it happened. As for Murray to Chicago it is a good move for Chicago. He's young and has a future ahead of him and has tons of experience. Just needs to be out of the pressure cooker of Pittsburgh PLUS Tristan Jarry is our number one goalie. Murray to Chicago SHOULD have happened but Bowman gets too cute.

You're good dude. Pharrow and I got into it and he was relentless....so I returned the favor. I'm not really against Murray all in all. I just don't think this is the goalie market to be sending picks away. My quote from yesterday below. Hawks need assets. They're not 1 piece away. They need to keep their 2nd or even get more picks. Murray's best fit is still with PIT IMO. It's not with the Hawks. We want to keep Crow and figure out in net later.

Quoting: exo2769
IMO, Murray's best bet and fit is to take PIT to arb...they settle for just slightly less on a 1 year deal. He'll become a UFA on a team that should compete and next years goalie market will be more favorable for the players.

Murray IS NOT getting playing time in Pittsburgh if he was to stay. Jarry is going to turn into an ELITE goalie in this league. I have dissected his game and Murray's game and skills in massive detail and Jarry is head and shoulders better moving forward. He is a learner and developer and he constantly improves in areas of his game like Crosby does. He focuses and then builds added components to his arsenal. Murray is stuck in certain areas and I don't think he will change BUT Murray is big, he has won and he can be a solid starter going forward and his age helps him PLUS if you look across the board at NHL goalies ONLY He and a 2-3 others are in his category that can be attained without giving up the farm.

You've got a bit of a mixed message here. He's not good enough...even for just ice time!...on my team, but trust me....He's a true starting goalie!!! That's a very hard position to take for ANY acquiring team to hear. You won't even allow him on the ice, but what now??? Starter??? Who are you trying to fool? It's one of the probably 9ish reasons zero team should trade for ANY starting goalie this year. I'm not 100% against Murray. I just agree with the 1st half of you're post...and I think deep down most PIT fans know it, but hate to see him leave for not a ton. He's done a lot for PIT. He's just not that good...as you've outlined in the first half. CHI should keep all their assets and extend Crow. Last year at age 35...Crow was literally the best goalie in the ENTIRE NHL when it came to high danger situations...which very unfortunately the Hawks gave up the 3rd most high danger chances. The Hawks need a proven guy that can stand tall. They need to keep their assets. Unless Murray wants a 5 year $4M deal...I wouldn't do it. Besides, Murray hold ALL the cards. He's going to file on October 10th....4 days away...and we'll see what happens. If I were Murray that's why I'd do. Stay on a winning team and get real money next year.

Murray wants 5-6 and with longer term but he's picked the wrong time for this due to all the circumstances. IF I was Murray I'd say Chicago give me 5 at 5mil and I'm good. That's low risk and he still has a chance at another contract after that depending on how he does. GOALIES cannot be greedy this off season and going forward UNLESS you are absolutely ELITE you are not getting over 7 million as a goalie. NO WAY! Love the dialogue as well. Thanks.
