Of course they do. Why would we take those players?
1. By the time we are ready to compete Gaidreau will be a UFA. We can just get him for free then if we want him.
2. Im not saying that Gaudreau positive value and Lucic negative value cancel each other out but it isn’t far off. Nobody is taking Lucic unless a first comes with it. This is like giving up two first for Gaudreau.
3. We need Young defensemen. If we are getting a forward it isn’t going to be someone who will be 29-30 years old when we are ready to compete and Can just sign anywhere else.

Lucic actually has positive value if you look at his advanced metrics he’s actually not bad for his contract it’s just he did fall off from his Time in Boston to now and everyone hates lucic, but hey we are gonna be great with or without gaudreau and we could always get someone like gunler at 20 who would be great with jacks premier passsing ability
