Devils wouldnt go for this. its been stated that they'd want a young, controllable player for one of their picks. Johnson is controllable but hes 30.

Not going to cost that to get Johnson out of tampa. Why would we give up a first and two prospects for another centre who we don’t need. I wouldn’t give up MCLeod alone for him.

We have Kook, Boqvist, and other centers in the pipeline. McLeod hasn't proved anything except for his speed. Perhaps a change of scenery is best. Also adding TJ gives us a locker room presence that's been in the playoffs and RW depth. The Vancouver pick is something we can throw away. The Arizona one is not. If we draft Sanderson at 7, there is plenty of talent that will be left by the time the AZ pick comes into play (Holtz, Perfetti, Quin)

Perfetti and holtz aren’t going lower than top 10 and Quinn won’t go past 15

So you’d rather spend a first on a 30 year old veteran forward who has “one” really good season over a young needed defenseman also giving up two younger players. I’ve watched MCLeod play since he was 13-14. The guy is not just speed. He is 22 and has only played 33 NHL games with limited ice time on one of the lowest scoring teams with no other offensive players. June’s never like to give young guys opportunity. He didn’t utilize Zacha properly and was benching Bratt this year when he didn’t deserve it. The coach gets fired and virtually every player excels. Bring MCLeod up this year or trade him for another younger player in a similar situation. Not a 30 year old who will be 32-33 when we are ready to compete. Tampa needs to shed cap space. They aren’t getting a first.

NJD declines - wouldn't give more that late pick for Tyler Johnson.

Kuokkanen can play center, Boqvist is strictly a LW. Mcleod still has some believers as offensive 3c, but NJD doesn't really have scoring 3rd line. Bottom two lines are usually a forechecking line and a defensive line. I think he will be moved, but for another change of scenery prospect (Logan Stanley, Kilm Kostin, Tyler Benson, Taylor Raddysh, etc)

These are picks number 18 and 20. Holtz, Perfetti will definitely be gone by then. Quinn maybe. Best forwards could be guys like Connor Zary, Jacob Perreault, JJ Peterka, Hendrix Lapierre, Noel Gunler, Lukas Reichel, Seth Jarvis, Sam Colangelo. All of those guys have top-6 upside and are likely middle-six forwards. Don't throw away picks like that for Tyler Johnson.

What??? There are lot better ways to spend 5m X 4 than on Johnson. He was prorated at 40 points over 82 games this year as he production has declined in the past few years.
His 7 points playoff games.....Is this the guy a team really wants? Besides Johnson has no motivation to leave Tampa.
