Quoting: Different_Perspective_85
You've said this a couple times in a couple threads. I'm curious what logic you are applying here and why you believe this. Especially when all evidence (current reporting as well as historical & empirical) is to the contrary.
I'm using the most basic of logic, it's really sad that people see names in quotes from reporters and don't actually take a second to comprehend what was actually said.
Current reporting isn't suggesting this is a possibility at all, in fact everything suggests the contrary. I broke Russo's quote down the last time I saw a Monahan/Dumba trade. He essentially states the Flames showed interest in Dumba but the Wild weren't interested and probably wouldn't even do it if Monahan was on the table, which insinuated that they simply don't want to make a deal with Calgary (my guess is due to bad blood from the 2019 deadline and the Backlund/Dumba injuries). Both Friedman and LeBrun have said that the Flames are listening to offers on Monahan and Gaudreau, but not shopping them.
Also, the FLames are trying to contend, everyone always talks about center ice being the most important position for winning, so what logical sense does it makes to trade your #1C for a defenseman when your other options for #1C are Lindholm who has never been an everyday center and even says says he is better and enjoys it more on the wing or Backlund who in an ideal world would be used as an elite 3C, because he is elite defensively but only a 40-50 point center.
So please, give some form of even semi-intelligent logic that says trading Monahan for a defenseman makes a lick of sense for Calgary. Don't worry, I won't wait because you can't.
