Switch that to Boston’s pick, and then maybe.

It isn't really a trade that makes sense. A) The Ducks should be going full rebuild and getting Marner would signal they think the rest of their nobody roster is close. It isn't they need a lot of high picks for a couple of seasons to turn it around. B) Marner isn't getting traded.

Lol come on you and I both know that package isn't worth Rielly, I thought Andersen would be good so Samsonov could be confident with his back up and could easily step up should he have a bad streak and cause of the low actual dollars. I also didn't want to send him somewhere for a first like everyone else.

There's talk the Caps are planning a three goalie rotation with Samsonov, Vanecek and Copley. Total cap hit is 2.8M That lets them add a puck moving defenseman. If they can sign a veteran at 1M, and send Copley to Hershey, that drops to 2.7.

I don't think the Leafs have any interest in moving Rielly, whatever the Caps offer. Top spots for Andersen might be Buffalo, if Tor can trade for Ullmark, Ottawa for Nilsson, or maybe Arizona if they unload one of their goalies.

I don't like any of the mentioned options, I would rather just sign a backup and give the starts to Campbell.

But the three goalie rotation would be interesting

Lehner signs for 5m X 5. So I wonder what Andersen's value in a trade is. Also what is the value of the other UFA goalies

I think Andersen would hold similar value as Lehner but I don't like getting into that debate because people just assume he isnt any good cause literally every leafs AGM has him moving

Yea, I don't understand the Andersen trades....unless the Leafs have a replacement. Don't understand why Carolina who have two moderately priced veteran goalies would want Andersen, unless they the Canes can trade on of Reimer or Mrzaek.

I think they do move one of Mrazek or Riemer. And if Andersen had Carolina defense infront of him he will be in the top vezina voting guaranteed.

Anaheim fans are the ones that proposed this.

Marner is 95% sure to be better (over their entire respective careers) and 100% sure to be more immediate help than the guy we draft at #6 and we get the 44th overall pick in this year's draft, too.

Where do we sign?

So, let's look into this a little further.

Which draft would you rather have:

(A) Jamie Drysdale, Helge Grans and Ozzy Weisblatt; or

(B) Mitch Marner, Helge Grans, Ozzy Weisblatt and Luke Evangelista?

Bearing in mind that Marner is now owed about $35 million for five years.

I'd take Drysdale only because he is a position of need and would be ELC
Edit but for the leafs it would be Drysdale one of Seth Jarvis Holloway or Schneider

The Caps don't seem to be in any financial troubles right now and have no internal cap, so Andersen's low actual dollars would mean very little to them. His cap hit, on the other hand, would make it impossible for them to upgrade the defense, which was the real problem last year. All the Caps reporters have been saying the team is confident in Samsonov as the starter, the only question now is if they're confident in Vanecek as the backup or sign a cheap vet like Greiss or Lundqvist. Andersen's not what they'd be looking for.

Okay? I’m sure there are some anaheim fans out there that don’t really get trade value.

A former 4th OA pick with proven elite ability is worth way more than a 20 something pick

Where Marner was drafted now means absolutely nothing. What matters is his production and his contract. The good news is one of those is pretty good.

Anaheim picks 6th. Rakell is really good. Manson is good. They aren’t doing that deal.
