Description
I still don’t love that Dubnyk trade
They retain the empty cap space were left with his actual salary as his cap.

I like Donato so I’m ok with a 3rd and Gambrell

Loosing Meir hurts but Danault will fit Well on our top 6 and that 1st in a deep draft will help add talent to our depleted minors.

Team is decent with good potential, younger and we have 3 pics in the first 34 to rebuild our prospect pool.
Playoffs are possible.... if we stay healthy maybe we make a run.

You guys flip flop too much lol 4 other Montreal fans happily accepted

I post it cause Danault seems like he’s wanting out he wants a top 6 roll and more offensive chances and some power play time.
Meir is a goal scoring power forward who is young and in his prime seemed like a win win

I like this a lot and I’d personally highly consider it, but the thing is is that Danault could fetch a really substantial return IMO. Danault’s value right now is really high. We could probably get assets that would be worth more than Meier together. Meier had a 57 point and 69 point pace respectively. He isn’t worth Danault (who is probably worth something like WPG’s first if he’s extended at best) and our first 16. Danault, a 2nd and Mete would more sense value-wise. I think Danault+1st+Mete is honestly something that would almost be able to fetch Laine.

Ok... so highly doubt that. Meir is clearly the better player in this trade and the fact that Danault is only signed for 1 year is
Why it’s a 1st and not a 2nd

read the updates i posted above. any danault deal would come with an extension. bergevin would want to maximize his return.

But he’s only ever posted in the teens goal Wise and Meir is a 30 goal scorer that gives him more value.

You might be right so what about Domi and the 1st for Meir?
Domi clearly wants out and that’s costing you guys value...
I really need the 1st and a good forward in return for Meir, otherwise why bother.

Domi and a 1st is acceptable But Meier may be a more gifted scorer he doesn’t have the defensive prowess that Danault does. He is the #1 5v5 player in the league stats wise over the last 2 seasons. He shuts down the top players in the league and produces very respectable numbers doing so, if you land him you’re getting an annual Selke candidate I doubt Bergevin looks at this any further than a 1 for 1 deal.
P.S Domi doesn’t want out he wants money and to play centre

Ya you can’t please everyone so just focus on me lol.
Danault with 1 year left at 27 has more value to mtl than Domi for 2 years left at 25. The fact their young centres are both 2-way players can still learn a lot from Danault this year. I’d hope to resign him if we move Domi

1st in this draft is high hopes! Don’t get me wrong I like him and I want him but a mid to early 2nd or a late 2 Nd and an NHL ready player would be my idea of fair value.

I get that and Domi’s medical Condition makes it hard to sign him long term imo so I see your thoughts, however 1 year of service time before FA reduces his value and with new CBA you can’t add a conditional pick if he resigns so that gets dicey.
If I was Montreal GM I’d keep both and figure out how to keep them happy, but in the real world I se one if not both traded this offseason.

Domi and a 1st is a lot for Meier. Domi still has a lot of value. He’s a 60 point 2C in this league (had 70 points as 2C and 49 point pace in an off year as 3C, so 60 points is reasonable). Meier is a 60-70 point winger. No reason for MTL to do that when Domi will do similar numbers as a 2C. Meier also has a monster QO and Domi will likely sign for cheap (5-6M).

Let me guess it should be Meir and our first for Danault?
We can’t under estimate a Canadian after all
