San Jose probably accepts, maybe a few tweaks but good start for sure. Good proposal OP!

This is stupid, big big overpayment for Montreal. And I am a big fan of Meier, it tells you how much of an overpay it is.

Of course they accept.
Well isn’t a cap dump he’s cheap and useful on the 4th line or as an extra. That package needs to either be sending a B prospect instead of Caufield or 3rd round pick instead of 1st not both

No reason for the sharks to accept then. And I’m not in disagreement that it’s a steep price. It’s just a first and Tatar and we really don’t need Tatar as your saying and we’re just hoping he’s tradable for a first which isn’t guaranteed. I don’t even care for Tatar in this. Caufield and the first are primary assets here and they’re the better starting point.

Caufield plus your first and keep weal if you want and make it something less valuable then Tatar but a prospect

How about 1st + Caufield + Hillis (who is a B forward prospect out of the OHL)?

Yeah Meier is very good but Caufield and the 1st is in my estimation too much

Caufield + the first + a cap dump of your choosing (weal works as we don’t have a ton of room but we have some) + maybe even a second or yeah hill whatever works

If your San Jose and your already week upfront there’s no reason to accept a trade of less. Meier is a outstanding 5v5 possession guy, and he’s shown that he can be a legit threat, he’s RFA controlled, and he’s 22. His play isn’t bad it’s this past year I think he over complicated things after literally being told you need to start to be a carry. He became a go to guy at 22 and couldn’t handle the pressure. He didn’t play bad but when watching games it was him making bad decisions like “why would you’d decide to pivot there, why didn’t you just dump it in, why wouldn’t you just shoot the puck, why did you try to drive the net and force a play instead of keeping possession while your team changes” type things. Not him being bad but him over complicating his decisions whereas the year prior he had no pressure to be a carry for the team

Aside from the fact that this is horrible for the habs, how does moving $325K of Weal count as a cap dump? That’s less than half of league minimum.

Not in the AHL, which is where he would be if you viewed him as not being a useful player.

Meier is good but not great !

a top prospect + a first rd pick and a player who matched meier's production in the past 2 seasons is overpaid
habs are essentially giving a first rd pick more than what we received for Paccioretty whos a 6 time 30+ goal scorer this is an awful return
