The Ottawa trade doesn't make sense for Ottawa. Ottawa has Chabot as their top left side D, and Brannstrom for the second pair.
If Detroit doesn't draft Drysdale, Ottawa probably will, and he gives Ottawa the legit top pair right shot D, and allows Thomson and JBD to battle it out for the second pair, down the road.
Formenton will probably start the season in the AHL, but he's going to be a dangerous middle6 winger at some point this year, and will be one of the fastest skaters in the entire NHL. I understand why you would want LW Formenton over LW Bowers, it's just that Ottawa doesn't need to give more to get Byram, the pick is worth more. Byram will be special, but so will Drysdale, or Raymond, depending on how the draft goes.
