It would for sure they need a 2C and Barkov is over qualified to be that. Only issue is he could walk in 2 seasons.

I think if they can get Laine-Barkov-Granlund as the 2nd lien everyone will re-sing

Does Florida accept this trade? I don’t think they do, but I would love the Jets to go hard after Barkov. Especially if they can talk with him about future plans, get Laine locked in long term, the extend Barkov to have a duo of the future.

What if you trade Laine for Pesce and 13th overall. Then flip 10 and 13 for #5 and a mid 2nd rounder.

Depends what the Jets see in their future, if they’re okay with taking a step back in the top 6 sure. If Laine is on his way out, I’d like them to get an overpayment. Idk, imo unless someone overpays a lot. People will be very disappointed with the trade. I think trading Laine is a big mistake, the move reeks of desperation and Chevy trying to solve issues he’s created.

I personally think they should be moving some of their assets, to acquire a long term solution at 2C. I’d personally like to see them patch the team together by trading for a long term 2C and signing a few ufa dman this year. Like, give Laine a god damn competent C to play with.

Or, if you do move him. I don’t mind the idea of moving him somewhere for a dman + c prospect and top 15 pick and then using 10 and that pick to trade up to 5 to grab Rossi.

I like the sounds of this, maybe just swap barkov trade for Haula as a UFA, then when barkov is a UFA, have laine locked in long term, offer Barkov what he wants to play with Laine for years to come.
