I like this deal a lot for Ottawa. A 4th is basically meaningless to Ottawa, and it provides sive and depth to the blueline. Wouldn't surprise me if Brown gets an audition next to Chabot at some point. If he can be the next DeMelo that's a huge win, but if not you gave up a 4th for a depth Dman.

Next move is Dustin Brown to complete the trifecta.

Panthers have a surplus of RHD. Guess Brown was the odd man out. I'll give the win to FLA. Brown is 26 and a former 6th in 2013. Don't see much upside in him.

Justin Braun is pronounced “Brawn” not Brown, see-Werner Von Braun. Better to just try and drag Mike Brown back to the nhl to punch more faces.

Josh Brown played for DJ Smith in Oshawa for three years, winning the Memorial cup in 2015. This seems like a coach trade request.

This is almost a 3rd round pick for a norderline NHLer... not sure how this move makes sense...

Ottawa is light on right side D, and I like this simply for the chance to keep Brannstrom on the left side. I agree it seems too much for a depth D, but from the TB side though, they have cap issues, and Brown can play at the NHL level, and for $700K. That has value for TB, and Ottawa needed to give a little extra for that. Ottawa could have found a cheaper acquisition, but this is someone who played for DJ Smith, so he was probably targeted for acquisition. It's Ottawa's 10th pick in the draft, they can afford to overpay a little.

I love how CF is biased against Montreal in General.
Brown's rights for a 4th rounder = 55% Fair deal
Edmundson's rights for a 5th rounder = 53% Carolina Hurricanes (And most bashing Montreal for the move)
