The correct route likely is to not hand out big contracts, draft one of the good top D prospects in 2021, and play lottery again in 2022. Making this a just for fun post since it’s not very realistic.
- Offer sheet Sergachev.
- Make cap trades to recoup some assets lost.
(If two 2nds from each team is too much for MAF retention then values could be adjusted accomplishing same trades)
- Draft Marco Rossi. Protect on wing until ready to play center.
- Trade any/all rentals at deadline for more draft picks.
Le salaire annuel moyen (AAV) de l'offre hostile est calculé en divisant la valeur totale du contrat par: 1. La durée totale du contrat, ou 2. Cinq ans
Lol. No he's not. He hasn't shown any consistency to this day. & that potential #1 pick is Aatu Ratÿ who is exactly the type of player Detroit needs. Even if it's a top 5 pick, there's Brandt Clarke behind him and a bunch of d-man that have higher ceilings than Sergachev. He might be worth a pick between 10-15 but nothing more
What consistency is he lacking? Top pair Dman on the most talented team in the league? Cup winner? Presidents trophy winner? NHLer at 20? PP stud? What?
Ya and the potential #1 this year was Hughes....uh oh. Not only did the Wings not win it, we lucked out by not winning it.
I don't think so, 3 top dmen at the top of the drafts, we will finish that low, just need lotto help. Look what hughes did for Vancouver. Imagine that now at 6'5/6'6. Insane to give that up, serg is good, but he's not turn the team around quinn hughes good. He's a complementary piece, not a #1

Not to be a stickler, bc I see your point, but Hughes was taken 7th. Many teams, including genius Holland, passed over him for lesser players.
Let's just hope Owen Power is as good as we both want him to be, and let's then hope we are able to get him.

And I see your point too, I was legit just gonna write, we just don't see eye to eye on this and both make valid points for our side of the argument. Bottom line is, we need a top LD either through the draft or taking advantage of a team in cap trouble like tb
In what regard? Reimer’s numbers were better, Reimer is younger, and on a shorter contract. MAF was on very good team too.
MAF will still be on a good team. MAF is still a better goalie than Reimer regardless of numbers, age, and contract. Replace Reimer with Mrazek idc. Just trying to get the Canes a goaltender who can win more than one playoff series. It’s an unlikely scenario, but not crazy either.. and only if Canes lose out on Kuemper, Markström, and Lehner.
Or just run it back with Reimer and Mrazek and get bumped from playoffs again idc.

Sergachev is a #1.
And what if it’s Power who turns out to be a complimentary piece.

How were MAF’s playoffs wins this year? Legacy goalies aren’t necessarily better than current performers. MAF is up against the goalie cliff. He isn’t much of rebound candidate. He could buck the trend like Rinne or Lundy but I don’t see it worth a goalie who we paid most of his salary and 2 2nds. Too much risk.

Now I’m really hoping they acquire Flower. So you cry.
Same time now I’m hoping Canes keep status quo, so again, tears. Cut out the Canes from the trade, it’s fine. Or read in description, I acknowledged two seconds from each team was potentially too much. I also acknowledged this post as being unrealistic.

To be fair, it’s a fine assessment. I understand your reasonings.

uhhh you might want to go back and look at who played the most minutes and in what situations. But good job putting a fake depth chart together....
Serg is a top pair DMan. Playing on a 2nd pair behind Hedman doesn't necessarily count.
Lmao. You literally just called him a top pairing guy then said he wasn't even playing top pair because he plays behind a better player. Nice job being hypocritical of yourself.

He is a top pairing guy. Hedman is the best Dman in the world.
Parayko is a top pairing guy too, he plays behind Pietrangelo.
Detroit isn't gonna offer sheet anyone that requires them to give up their 1st round pick. With how bad they're gonna be it's gonna be a lottery pick and a potential #1 pick isn't worth Sergachev
"A bird in the hand ..." You know exactly what you have with Sergachev.

See how that simple logic works for you.
Parayko isn't a top pairing guy either. He's a solid #3. Guess your logic needs some improving. If Sergachev was that good he'd play beside Hedman. He's played the right side before and wasn't good. He's not a top pair guy. Sorry to burst your bubble kid.
