This is terrible. Wings are not giving up 32oa for a 30 something dman. Yzerman said yesterday that there is no chance he moves picks unless it was for a super young asset. This is far from reality this trade. Wings counter with Frans Nielsen for sergechev, it's at least closer

McDonagh isn't worth basically a late 1st round pick, Fat chance of Tyler Johnson waiving his full NTC for Ottawa. And fat chance i see New jersey being one of the 14 teams that Killorn would waive for.

So I don't see McD being moved to Detroit. He doesmt fit the mold. I will disagree with people who think that its a crazy trade. Value wise its dead on. I know hes 30 and the contracts a bit long but hes worth an early 2nd easy.

How TB gets out of this will be fascinating.

Kucherov has NMC
Stamkos has NMC
Hedman has NMC
McDonagh has NTC
Coburn has NTC
Palat has NTC
Gourde has NTC
Johnson has NTC
Killorn has M-NTC

Unless multiple guys waive, they are going to have to move one of: Vasilevskiy, Point, Cirelli, Sergachev...(what?)

And TB beat reporters keep saying it will be someone unexpected.

Do know the conditions of each of those NTCs and NMCs? Some of those clauses may have required players to submit a list of acceptable teams prior to the beginning of last season.

To a playoff team sure, to wings he's not worth it. Yzerman said so yesterday

Steve said exactly what he should say for the team. They want more picks want young guys practically inviting teams to call him to offer cap dumps. I agree McD isnt a fit but its too bad. Hed help so much.

Killorn is modified...he can block trades to about half the teams. Others are full no trade (or no movement).

EDIT - and Kucherov's isn't technically active until Oct 9th.

So they have two options. It's my understanding that the player submits a list at the beginning of the season and it's good until the opening day of free agency.

Yes, but they need to clear $10-11 million off the books to fit their RFAs (got that figure from the Athletic beat reporter). Killorn would get $4.6 million back. Who would be next?

Gourde/Johnson/Coburn. Players seem to be waiving clauses more often these days, but it gives the players some say to choose their next situation.

So three guys win the cup in Tampa, and then agree to pay more tax and play for lesser team? And get nothing in return?

Usually people that waive NTC are on teams that are selling, rebuilding.

I'm sure TB will figure it out, but will be interesting.

Great points haha. The players leaving money on the table bc of the state income tax thing is a real kicker. Without options, maybe they’re forced to end up selling the RFA’s for big returns?

Yeah gonna be interesting for sure, can’t wait for the dominoes to begin falling!
