I think the question is what is the Ducks' needs and what are they trying to do?
Are the Ducks trying to be competitive? Then they need to get better defensemen and more offensive talent up front. If I was Minnesota I'd try to do something around Dumba and if I was Winnipeg I'd try to do something around Laine. Obviously both of those would require more than a mere pick exchange, the Ducks would have to give more as well (much more if it's Laine and Winnipeg's pick).
If the Ducks aren't trying to be competitive, they should keep the pick. I saw Friedman's report but I don't understand why they would trade down. Do they think they are good? There's good players outside the top 5 in this draft, even if they aren't going to be immediate impact players.
