Description
Sens don't get the guy they want at 5th, so they decide they would be better to trade back and take a different approach.

I've seen mention of Askarov and Quinn as guys the Sens might want, and I don't see either one making any sense at 5th overall. I still think the most likely option is they just take Raymond 5th, but this is the only scenario where Ottawa gets Quinn AND Askarov.

Ottawa takes:
Tim Stutzle (3rd)
Jack Quinn (7th)
Yaroslav Askarov (12th)
Transactions
1.
OTT
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (VAN)
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (NJD)
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2021 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
Devils decide that they absolutely must have their guy at 5th overall, and decide to make a swap with Ottawa.

NJ gets:
5th overall pick
28th overall pick
NJD
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (OTT)
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (NYI)
Détails additionnels:
Ottawa misses the guy they want at 5, and thinks their next option will still be on the board if they trade back. Ottawa uses the opportunity to move up their late 1st.

Ottawa gets:
7th overall pick
20th overall pick
Lower of NJD's two 2021 3rds
2.
OTT
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (FLA)
Détails additionnels:
Could be any team in the 12-15 range. Picked Florida because they're definitely not a team who will be in on Askarov. Whichever team it is moves down 5-8 spots and picks up a mid 2nd round pick, and a NHL ready C prospect with a lot of upside in spite of his flaws.

FLA gets:
20th overall pick
52nd overall pick
Logan Brown
FLA
  1. Brown, Logan
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (VAN)
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2020 (CBJ)
Détails additionnels:
Ottawa decides Askarov is a guy they can't miss out on, so they reach deep into the future assets goodie bag and move up even further with their third 1st round pick.

Ottawa gets:
12th overall pick

Oh god don't draft quinn at 7. Perfetti is likely available there, and is miles better.

NJD is not likely to move up...would move back a spot or two if anything.

And Perfetti won't make it to pick 7. Doubt he gets past Detroit's pick.

This is mostly going off the speculation that has been out there. Realistically I think they are getting Raymond 5th because I don't see him going to Detroit. It seems to me that the Sens could have Jack Quinn as the number 2 RW in the draft, so it wouldn't really surprise me given Trent Mann's comments to see them drop back and take Quinn over other options.

Also as far as Perfetti goes, It wouldn't surprise me if he and Rossi were relatively low on the priority list for Ottawa. They're already getting a C 3rd overall, and from Mann's comments I'd be surprised to see them double up at the top of the draft.

It's just a hypothetical. If they were deadset on getting a guy they thought could be gone by 7, I don't think it's an unreasonable deal. Won't really happen, just thought I wanted to flesh out.

Can't see the sens drafting Perfetti at all, but could see them getting Rossi. He already plays in Ottawa after all.
