Eichel's great but this ask is insane... change Fox to DeAngelo or make it Fox + Kakko otherwise it's just too much for Eichel.

No this is good. I think this is the closest proposal that has been made.

That's the point, you're going to have to overpay to pry him out of Buffalo. Teams don't just trade their 23 year old superstars with 6 years left on their deals.

Thats the kind of offer I think it takes. Elite pieces and not a 1 for 7 kinda trade we see here so often. Idk if the rangers would do it, its alot. Would trouba instead of fox work.

That doesn’t get you half of Eichel.
Strome is a middling forward, Fox is a good young player, and the pick will be somewhere between 25-31 (with Eichel NYR will be a cup contender).
Buffalo will be able to return so much more than this for a top 5-7 center in the league.

I would say Deangelo, Chytil, Anderson, Robertson, 22 OA and their 2021 1st. Thats as far as I would go.

Value of 5 1sts and a 2nd for Eichel.

That's the kind of offer they don't want. You have to give up Lafreniere, Fox or Kakko plus some other pieces in a trade for Eichel.

Just that Lafreniere + Fox + Strome is too much.

6 for 1 rarely happens. And mighty generous saying Lias still holds 1st round value. ADA is borderline as well. Bottom line, if Eichel is moved it should be for quality, not quantity. Your offer clearly falls under the quantity side

While most think you are right, there is a greater then 0 chance that he doesn’t pan out.. that unknown plus the Eichel known is what it would take. If Eichel is moved, teams would probably beat that offer (LAK could offer 2, one of Valardi/Turcotte plus which would be more enticing)

Edit: sorry meant beat a much smaller offer, not the fox, 1st and Strome offer

Yeah just from an outsider perspective NYR would need to add to Lafreniere to get Eichel but not Fox and Strome that's too much.

Fox is already a top pairing defenceman and is only 22 years old...

Yeah, Laf plus is fair value, but with Eichel’s contract Buf should want more then fair value. It’s a definite overpay to play scenario, as at least one team would. Eichel may want to play in Bos or NY, but that isn’t Buffalos problem to take a lesser return then they could get from the masses

I don’t see rangers moving #1 because it is their first time ever with the pick. What everyone needs to keep in mind, is that even Gretzky was traded. Kings didn’t have to throw it robataille, duschene, Blake, etc. they did trade Carson who ended up only having one more great year (I mean times were very different back then with the amount of points players put up), their 7th overall selection, plus 3 firsts over the next 4 years. That’s essentially kakko, kravtsov/chytil, and 3 draft picks (that could be anything). If buffalo wants known items, ADA is a known quantity and a former 1st rounder, Strome albeit was carried by Panarin but it also seemed like he made some plays himself (Panarin did have HIS best year too playing with Strome) and is also a former 5th overall, chytil was a good find at 21st overall, I could definitely see a prospect like Robertson or Jones included as they were both good finds at their draft slots.
Everyone always expects these players to get hauls as a return, but you don’t always get quality for quality. You almost always get quantity that has SOME quality.

Is eichel worth 9 million dollars more than laf? I don’t think so. Wouldn’t include that pick in any deal. Eichel is one of the highest paid players but has zero accomplishments to his name thus far.

No, no it is not the value of 5 firsts. Just because a player is picked in the first round does not mean he has first round value. And that's fine if that's as far as you would go, but that package wouldn't even get the Buffalo GM on the phone.

Just like Hughes was an 18 year old superstar. Laf is going to be really good, don't get me wrong, but if Laf hits his ceiling he is what Eichel is right now

The Eichel package is about as close as you can get to a real package posted here. NYR is basically trading 1OA (who is a winger), a top 2 dman (he's probably a 1.5D, that on-ice shooting percentage is WAY above average which has helped contribute to his point totals, he could definitely get to 1A dman status though), and a #2 C for a 1C player.

At 23, Eichel is going to get better (he's not at his peak yet), while Laf won't get to Eichel level for at least 5 years (Laf is not in the Matthews/McDavid level, but above the Hirscher level), Eichel has also never played with the same level of talent NYR has on their team, imagine him with Panarin on his wing and what numbers he could put up. BUF needs to be looking a few years out if they move Eichel, which they'd do with Laf.

If I'm NYR, I don't do the trade. I think you've seen from this past SCF that depth is key, you need 4 lines to contribute, and you'd eat up some of that depth with this trade. I'd take your cash and look to add talent on lines 2-4, and also look to the future for contracts (Fox will need one soon, Kakko, etc). I don't think Eichel makes them a contender.
