I wish the Holl to Minnesota proposals would stop. We have like 5 RD in the system that are better than Holl.

Avs aren't retaining any salary in any trades. They'll be spending to the cap.

I do understand that point, but the Avs have a TON of cap space available, they could in theory retain salary on certain players to increase the value coming back in a trade. Maybe a third isnt enough of a sweetner but I'd reckon it's almost there in terms of trade value. Even after this trade they'd just hit the cap FLOOR, you guys could probably even take a run at Hall or Hoffman plus Look into the free agent goalie market and still have money left over.

I didnt necessarily mean only Minnesota, but I think a cost controlled RHD would fetch at least a 3rd in the trade market. A lot of teams are going to go through money issues this upcoming season too, again not necessarily Minny but other smaller market teams might look at that as desirable.

Bottom pairing defensemen are a dime a dozen. They don't get thirds in the trade market.

The Avs only have about 6mil realistically to spend on improvements. the rest is tied up retaining the RFAs. The Avs could use a top 6 winger... and there goes the extra cap. So no retaining is not going to happen unless it makes them better right now, not on futures.

They have a lot of cap space and could pursue Hall on say a 3yr deal but that and signing their RFA’s put them at close to the cap.

After reading these comments and looking over the Avs roster I do agree that the retention would'nt be a good Idea for Colorado. Would this Work better? Or how about a Grubauer for Andersen trade straight up?

Not sure if I agree with that, when the FA market dries up I think teams would take a shot on Holl. He is a really solid #5 and a weaker #4 if you pair him with the right partner he'd excel. But I did lower the picks given for him.

Avs are not trading grubauer, how hard is it for leaf fans to comprehend this

Is trading Justin Holl for a Leafs fan like brushing Their teeth in the morning or taking a crap?

I’m going with the later because it’s ironic

He’s signed for 3 more years, overpaid and bad. The leafs paid for size and what’s in my toilet bowl
