Chara’s washed up he can’t play top 4 minutes anymore

When Chara hits the inevitable age wall (who knows when, guys a tank) are Grelcyzk (sp?) And Moore competent for 1st and 2nd pair duties instead of 2nd and 3rd?

Grzelcyk has played a lot on the top pair situationally (like when the bruins are trailing). The spelling is literally right up there on the page you’re posting on.

Grz is more likely to be a more balanced 2nd pairing guy than Krug. Not as good offensively, but better skater, IQ and understanding of how to play defense.

Moore could be a good 3rd pairing guy, but that's about it.

Lauzon could maybe play top 4 minutes, but idk if he's ready for that yet. He looked good during the regular season, but lost during the playoffs. If Krug and Chara both left, Boston would probably need to find a top 4 LHD. They do have Ahcan who they signed this season and his style is similar to Krug (only Achan is more physical). He and Krug actually had very similar production in NCAA, but to expect him to be top 4 LHD his first year in the pros is a bit much.

Yes and no. McAvoy has been Boston's #1 d-man for 2 years now, and TBH I wonder just how much of playing with McAvoy has extended Chara's career. Chara doesn't play on the PP (hasn't for 3-5 years now IIRC). On th PK side, Carlo is already set to take over Chara's PK time (actually is already close) as well as the shutdown role late in the game. Perfect world, you find someone to compliment McAvoy's game and by that I mean the offensive side. Because of Chara's lack of speed, McAvoy was always the one retrieving pucks that were thrown in deep. Also, due to Chara's McAvoy was limited in when he could jump into the offense and really push things. Krug had the reverse playing with Carlo. Because he had Carlo to cover for him, Krug was able to jump into play frequently without having to worry about his d-partner.

Basically if Chara/Krug don't return the ideal look would be...

??? - McAvoy
Grz - Carlo
Zboril/Lauzon - Lauzon/Clifton

DeBrusk has been rumored to be available (although I don't see it myself) and he maybe the guy they would need to use to get a young LHD to play with McAvoy.

Finally an ACGM that doesn't underpay Grzelcyk

Coyle will play center. Don’t see Moore or Lindholm on the Bruins next season.
