Description
Tatar trade is more of a high risk high reward type of trade. I see the trade breaking down like this:

Tatar for 1st + Burzan + Helleson
3rd for Calvert to ease Avs cap hit

Dallas trade breakdown
Drouin for Hintz
Fleury + 2nd for Cogliano (sort of a cap dump to make money work) + Harley (Harely is certainly worth more but with Heiskenen and Lindell already in Dallas and the "cap dump" (when you take into account Cogliano's actual value is a 5th or 6th) I think the trade evens out quite well)

Don't see Dallas parting with Hintz and Harley for what you're offering here.

That'd be a pretty pathetic move by Chevy, trade an early 2nd and still decent young player for a guy that you lost in free agency.. Lol

Chevy needs to fix the top 4 and he supposedly regrets letting Chiarot walk. Plus Chiarot has increased his value since coming to Montreal so I don't think the value is as far off as you make it seem. BTW Chiarots value right now is somewhere in the range of a late 1st early 2nd. Niku's is somewhere between a mid to late second.

thats a hard no from the avs, Tatar does not hold that kind of multiple asset deal, and extending him does nothing for the Avs, his age doesnt fit the Avs roster to extend those many years with

Calvert for a 3rd, he is more valuable to the Avs than a 3rd, he is the engine of the bottom 6, he is always missed on the PK and in the playoffs if he gets hurt. Important piece to their depth

Pretty sure I heard somewhere was Chiarot wanted to stay but Chevy would only go two years and the Habs offered three so he went to Montreal, that was apparently the same reason Stastny chose Vegas, they were willing to go three years and Chevy only wanted to do a two year deal.

I never said the value was off, just that Chevy would look like a fool trading good assets for a guy he lost in free agency.

I don't know how you think Tatar doesn't fit. The Avs are contenders now. Getting a second line scorer is certainly something they would love. Imagine the top six. This trade doesn't propose any top prospects or top young D men. If you want to keep Calvert you can like I said his move was mostly to help with the Avs future cap space.

Hes not the target of a guy they want to make a long term investment, giving him an exertion at 30. Thats why hes not a fit, its not the player but giving up multiple assets to get and then an extension in his 30s, at that price just sign Toffoli if they miss out on Hall (which is the main target)

Avs would go after Domi out of all the Habs forwards. Tatar would be a back up back up plan

I see my apologies I thought you meant valuewise. It probably was something like that for Chevy and the Jets but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't take him back because at the end of the day the Jets top 4 D is pretty sad right now and Chiarot would improve it quite significantly. Then he could focus on moving either Laine or Ehlers to fill a top 4 RHD and the 2C holes maybe send Laine + 2nd to Carolina for Pesce + Trocheck + Bokk

Domi doesn't fit cause he is better at Center. You already have good Center depth you need an addition top 6 winger. Tatar is a guy who put up career numbers with Danault as a center for 2 consecutive years imagine what he could do with Burakovski and Kadri. That line would be as deadly as the Landiskog-McKinnon-Rantanen line. Toffoli is likely staying in Vancouver and Hall would command too much money for Sakic to be able to resign his major RFA's over the next 2 years in my opinion

Domi would play the wing, avs and bednar love their fwds who can take draws

Dude you’re spending a lot of energy trying on this. It’s simple tatar isn’t the ideal fit for the avs, they won’t jump out and get him at that price, that’s all my comment was

They would take killorn in a trade with Tampa over tatar trade. There are lots of options that don’t include a 1st and 2 decent prospects. That’s too high of a price for a 2nd line winger

I think it would take more (not a ton) for Alzner to be dumped on Detroit. My reasoning, Staal is still a NHL caliber defender and can play on our bottom pairing while also mentoring our young blue liners. With our current defenders we now have 8 defenders so Alzner wouldn’t have a spot this would be treated entirely as a dump while Staal wasn’t. Yzerman came out and said he was going to use Staal this year and he actually had a no waive clause not NMC so he can be traded anywhere at the TDL for another return. Alzner on the other hand would have no spot and is two years vs one. I like Mete but would prefer draft capitol over him as we already have a bunch of fringe guys in the pipeline. That STL 2nd is also a late round second.

He might, I think the Chevy has a pretty big ego though.

In the end I think the Jets window is closed, Chevy's poor trades, lack of action building out the roster and poor drafting has set this team back, trading Laine or Ehlers just creates more holes, adding Trocheck and Pesce but subtracting Laine doesn't make the Jets anymore of a contender then if they just keep Laine and add a dman or two in free agency but that doesn't fill the hole at center, they're just too far behind now with too many holes to fill, the Jets are a bubble/first round exit team now.

Look your not changing my opinion and I am not changing yours. No need to get hostile or keep going back and forth so let's just agree to disagree on the trade and move on.

I agree it isn't far off and there is a deal in there that would benefit both teams.
