The more and more I see this. The oilers just have to be adding something else. It just doesn't add up. Bjork is a potential 20+ goal guy, and with Mcdavid? he can definitely get there.

A 6th round in 21? Bjork has no room to grow and Chaisson is the veteran player that Boston loves

Toronto had a brutal PK and Khaira was THE BEST pker. So upgrade on that and also it saves Toronto 2.3 mil in cap space. Maybe samorukov or Kesselring instead of kemp?

except that it leaves the leafs with a huge gap at 3c, and they arnt going to be able to fill that with 2.3 million, and a slightly better prospect doesnt fix that

I would understand that if talking about a quality 3c but this is kerfoot talking about. I’m in agreement as for it’s not a good deal but that’s because I don’t like the idea of loosing two very quality pk players in same offseason and adding a 3c who sucks at faceoffs and doesn’t really bring any quality to the line up just adds term and limits cap space further from actually improving roster.

What has he ever done to justify time on the top line? Both are bottom six wingers with debatable upside. Chiasson is atleast capable of playing on first unit pp same can’t be said about Bjork.

except kerfoot is a quality 3c, he's, at worst an average 3c. saying he doesnt bring quality and just adds term is hilariously incorrect

Well I’ve talked to countless leaf fans about kerfoot the only positive thing any would say is he’s a decent 3c. Majority pointed out flaws in his game can’t win draws gets pushed off the puck doesn’t play with enough bite passing is questionable at best his shot is very soft. Isn’t capable of getting the puck threw high traffic areas. No matter how many times I ask leaf fans they never are able to point out a single strength he does have. Many also like to point out he’s far better suited for the wing because of his defensive awareness slips. I’d like to be sold on kerfoot but it’s leaf fans that have done a tremendous job making him sound like a pile of overpaid trash. Please be the one leaf fan that can point out something positive to his game.

Bjork has plenty of room to grow. He was plagued with injuries in his early career, so last season was technically his rookie season.

You just are giving up on Bjork. if someone like Chaisson can score 22 goals playing with Mcdavid, someone with more speed and skill like Bjork can easily score 20.

Chiasson production is pp based and speed wouldn’t have increased how he got that. Net front presence using his big body to screen and jam in pucks. I’m not against the trade completely but it’s very difficult to judge the impact Bjork would have because very different players. The one part I do get a bit hung up on is chiasson has a specified role which he was very good at and it’s a role I can’t see bjork as capable of filling not saying one is a better player over the other just don’t know what type of role he would have. He would get a look 5-5 with mcdavid just like everybody will likely get a chance he’s not someone I’d make the deal based upon that tho. Not saying it’s a bad deal for either team just don’t know how it will play out.

Ya I totally agree. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that the bruins have has an outstanding pp throughout cassidys tenure and they need 5v5 scoring. Chaisson does not help 5v5 and would be on the second unit likely.

Idk chiasson did split time on the oilers top unit and it was highly successful with him there. Oilers are in the same boat as for 5-5 improving which is why I can see them doing a move like this pulling from pp to improve 5-5 but would Boston as you mentioned also looks to improve in that area. That’s not chiasson bread and butter so to speak. I’m not against the deal just don’t really get it for a variety of reasons. If they did it I don’t see it hurting either team but improving mehhh idk seems more like a change for the sake of change.
