Yes now is the time to make massive overhaul after the team finished second in the division and having a gm that preaches continuity. Way toooo much going on here even the odd decent deal here doesn’t look right with everything else going on.

Because Michael Grabner is an actual NHL player. What is Kuokkanen?

They looked unstoppable vs #24 Chicago, I guess.....so why fix what's broken, right?

What's the point of the Wings trading Luke Glendening and a 6th for Riley Nash. Nash is a rental and his metrics particularly expect goals are worse than Glendening's.

Wings would simply trade Glendening to a playoff team for a 4th and promote a prospect mid-season.

And to answer your question:

1. This team is brutal 5v5
2. McDavid has no reliable 2-way wingers
3. Nuge - Drai & Yamamoto need to play together
4. Puljujarvi would benefit immensely by having veteran NHL Finnish mentors available to him, he is a substantial asset, so anything Holland can do to help him on and off the ice is simply good managemnt
5. OEL is linked to Tippett and his coaching staff and needs a change of scenery and would be a great mentor for Broberg
6. Edmonton is a weak Face-off team
7. Edmonton needs better results from their bottom 6
8. Koskinen is good, but needs to play 50 or less games.
9. Oilers Goalie prospects are 3 yrs away if they develop properly
10. Korpi gets mentorship from a respected vet Countryman
11. Ekblad rumours, would be a great mentor to Bouchard
12. McDavid & Draisaitl are in their Prime years and the Oilers need to be better than 9th or 10th overall

Intangibles, like toughness + Holland's links to Detroit & Yzerman and Yzerman feeling guilty for the duds he traded to Holland in AA & Mike Green. 🙄🙄

All he has to do is take a look at the contracts Holland stuck him with like Justin Abdelkader's 4x 4.25M along with the NTC that goes until the end of this year plus Frans Nielsen and his 3x 5.25M along with a 10 team no trade (but these contracts are so bad no one will take them even with retained and a sweetner).

He'll get over any feeling of guilt pretty quickly and that doesn't even get into to Helm's (who is married to his old neighbor's daughter--nepotism at its finest) or Glendening's contracts--which are finally trade-able now that they are in their final year's.
