too much for Melker. And the reason they bought out Ryan was to open up cap space for guys like Chlapik, Abramov, Balcers, etc. They wont sign veterans

there's some guys on the Ottawa Board (HFB) that are "well connected" with the team and there's some rumours that indicate the opposite

If true that's bad because they could have ended up with 5 1st round draft picks in 2020 (or 3 in 2022)

Maroon has back-to-back cup finals (and maybe Stanley Cups) -- so I think he will get interest from other teams. I don't see him wanting to play 4th line on a lottery team after the past 2 seasons.

As much as i want to believe that it still doesn't really add up because they had 18million in cap space BEFORE buying out Ryan, with the cap adjustments thats going to put us at 22million just to hit the floor. I mean if we assume the C. Brown, Duclair and Tierney fetch 10-12mil total between the 3 of them, I feel like Chlapik, Abramov, Balcers and even Paul for that matter aren't going to total 6+ Million i just don't see it and even if it did NOW we still need another 4mil just to hit the floor which then means we do need to either trade picks for players or sign veterans and potentially over pay some people to come here for 1year.

I think it's a weird move personally.

well they have to see where they are before they start taking contracts and I didn't mean just 1sts, it could be young prospects or players. They also could go the route of outbidding on free agents

yeah first was an example... young NHL ready players would have also been appropriate

Not with Melnyk. As close to the floor as possible
