google disingenuous. You have not used that word correctly my friend. Or you paid me a huge compliment, so thank you.

Patrick is not currently an NHL player. He is injured, possibly severely. He's a huge unknown. As such, his value is deflated. Yes he has tons of potential and has played well, but he's a massive risk. One Winnipeg does not want to take on. In 3 years they could be looking at having NOTHING of value from trading Patrick Laine. They're not doing that. They want established NHL players who will help their lineup.

Arguing and misusing big words does not make your trade better dude. Ghost and JVR are players the Flyers want to be rid of. Why would the Jets want them? Because you say so? JVR is a third liner for them (who we all know is not the impact player he used to be) and Ghost is AT BEST second pair (but likely third). That's not what they're looking for.

What don't you understand about passing a physical? JVR is a 25+ goal scorer for $4.5 in this deal. He would be a top 6F on the Jets if Laine was moved out. Try again!

After reading everything on here, I get where you’re coming from. Everywhere else I look, I see JVR as a cap dump, even at 4.5 it’s not a great pickup, ghost is likely a 3rd pairing guy, at 4.5m? Yeah no thank you. That leaves the major pieces as Patrick who is a completely unknown piece. He has talent, but his injuries could be career ending. The Jets aren’t going to trade a prolific goal scorer to bank on the fact that Patrick returns to form, ghost returns to form and JVR can score 20 goals. Not a chance, if you’re moving a guy of quality like Laine, you’re getting quality back. It’s been reported that the price tag attached to Laine is extremely high. If the Flyers want in on Laine, it’s going to be something like Frost + Myers coming back for him. At that point the Flyers are likely out of the trade.

Again, JVR is a 25+ goal scorer and $4.5 is a cheap number for that. Ghost is a 3rd pairing but also PP specialist so a guy that can easily put up 40 pts if given PP time is worth $4.5. As for Patrick...PASS A PHYSICAL, why is that hard to understand?

So basically you’re banking on the fact that he passes a physical.... I don’t know what you don’t get but ghost and JVR are cap dumps. JVR is a 3rd liner on the Jets, and that 3rd line is used very defensively, so tell me why he’ll score 25+ goals there. Also, ghost likely is behind Morrissey and probably Samberg too. He won’t 1pp time as we basically have the same player there in Pionk. It’s not hard to understand, if the Jets are moving Laine, it’s for quality. This isn’t quality, as soon as you have to give up 5 pieces to get one, you won’t get that one.

Just to add to this, Patrick isn't a 2C yet. He's more of a 3C in my opinion. He has the talent to be a top 6 player, but hasn't quite put it together to be considered a 2C yet. And that's not taking into account he's missed a lot of time. But feel free to show me that Patrick is a 2C at the moment, I just haven't seen the stats that support it yet.

Please try to be more polite and listen very closely to the multiple people that are telling you your trade is not going to work. Try learning from what people are saying instead of just trying to yell louder overtop.

Yes I understand what a physical is. It would be very DISINGENUOUS of me to pretend that I did not (proper usage here). Even if he passes it that doesn't mean he's going to a) play on a consistent basis for the next 10 years or b) contribute anything near what he is capable of. Have you ever had a physical? It's not exactly a grueling process.

JVR as a 25+ goal scorer? In an 11 year career it has happened 5 times. Most of those came in Toronto and when he was playing with other offensively focused players. He won't have that talent around him in Winnipeg, and he has never shown to be a guy who is able to create offence for himself. So he's not the prize you are touting him as (and wasn't a great signing for Philly if you are working so hard to dump him two years later).

I am all finished here, hopefully I have cleansed you of whatever this trade is. Please have a great weekend.

Love the idea of getting Laine but I don't think this moves the needle enough for Winnipeg. Hard to see them move one of the best goal scorers in the league for a return with Nolan Patrick as the best upside piece. Gostisbehere is far from a sure thing to return to being offensively dynamic. JVR is solid and can chip in with goals and 4.5M is a solid price to pay but he's not going to replace Laine.

I think there would be better offers available for Laine that have more confidence in the players they are getting reacher their upside.
