Where are all of these Parise to the Islanders posts coming from? Have there been reports of it resurfacing?

Mike Russo has suggested it is still alive from MIN's side and Arthur Staple echoed that from the Isles side in his Q&A today. His prediction for this offseason was along the lines of "fans won't see the UFA signings/trades that they are hoping for, but Lou likes his guys. So, Parise becomes an Islander...somehow"

Not a huge fan either but it's an improvement in the middle 6. I also like keeping Leddy around. Trotz really seems to value him

If Minn retains I guess Parise would be a good move. Certainly gives JPG something to work with.

Also after reading Staples Q&A, it made me realize Boychuk may actually have a bit more value than we give him credit for. The fact that team doesn't have to pay him anywhere close to his cap hit could be huge in a COVID down profit world. Could they get away with trading him and not giving up assets to do so? Would be great.

Still think leddys gone. Staple said he would expect a mid rd pick without retention, i think it’s more like a 6th or 7th.

Agreed. It can’t even happen without minimum 2.5 mill retention , which I guess I’d be content with. Keep in mind staple is almost always wrong on contract projections, pulock + toews will both get more. The isles can’t go over the salary cap so...

If the Wild retain one penny of Parise’s contract, they better get someone better than Bellows! They already have their own Bellows (carreer fringe nhler who can fill in for top 9 injuries) in Donato.

Parise is a good player, don't get me wrong. Idk if it was you or someone else I told I'd love to have him on a short term deal for $3-$4 million, but I really can't stomach $7.5 million for 5 more seasons, even if Ladd is going the other way. Way too much of a risk in my mind

I agree with you, I want nothing to do with parise. But if guerin keeps making moves for the sake of changing the culture and he retains 2.5 mill on parise and we get rid of ladd, I wouldn’t hate it. Still wouldn’t go that route.
