Description
Laine / Roslovic / Anderson names have been dangled around for a little while now and haven't seemed to go away quite yet.
Trade is simple, Columbus needs a #2 Center, and a #1 Scorer, while Winnipeg needs a #1 D-Man. Anderson is thrown in there because he has no place on the team once we get Roslovic, basically just a swap of players there.

Trading Nyquist to Florida due to Zito becoming their new GM, and he hasn't performed in CBJ colors yet (15 goals, 6 empty netters, not the best). He also has no place on the team when Laine, Atkinson, and Bjorkstrand are the same position as him. His Cap Hit is also pretty steep to become a 4th liner, so best interest to ship him somewhere else to fill in some picks that we've lost out on in previous trades.

Signings, Dubois 8x8, Roslovic 3x3, Garikov 1.2x1, Stenlund 0.8x1. Others can work out but I'm not going into extreme detail with all of them.
Extensions: Laine 8x8, Bjorkstrand 3.5x3, Savard 4.25x4. Probably will have to let Foligno walk unless he takes a 2x2 contract or something similar so we can fit within the cap.

I couldn't figure a trade out for it, but maybe ship off Korpisalo while his trade value is sky high after his playoff performance for a solidified 5/6 D-Man to pair up with Harrington or Kukan and potentially a draft pick (3rd or 4th round probably). Preferably a RD. Someone to play the Ian Cole role just on the right side instead of the left.

Thoughts on this?

Applause for the initiative on this...always a fan of a big swing.

IMO, I'd prefer to keep Werenski over Laine. I think his value on the blue-line, even with Jones already there, is too high; plus, I think CBJ can get a top-pairing forward without having to trade him. Unless CBJ are getting inclinations that either (a) they won't be able to afford him, Jones, and Elvis/Joonas in two years; or, (b) He has indicated he doesn't want to sign in Cbus long term, I hold onto him.

I will say, I don't know enough about Roslovic to comment on his value here. WPG fans - is he looking to be enough of a contributor that he'd be worth it?

The jets decline imo, Roslovic for anderson is basically a wash so I agree there. But we need a rd not a ld. We have heinola (who is tearing up the liiga in preseason btw), Samberg and niku all on ld. And we have JoMo signed to a new extension. So trading laine for yet another ld doesn’t make much sense.

If it was for an up and coming 1c or a top pairing rd a one for one woudl make some sense. Otherwise, we would want a 2c, top 4 rd, and a laine replacement in the top 6 back imo. That’s the only way laine for multiple peices will work. (I know you didn’t trade for him with pieces but this had to be said for the rest of the cap friendly community)

I agree with all of this, and frankly, I think we'd have to give up more for Winnipeg to accept this deal. You've also banished Grigorenko to Cleveland (won't happen, he was promised playing time as part of signing) and kept Wennberg...as a scratch?! That's just poor roster management, sir. Worst of all, you've not only kept Scott Harrington, you've made him a consistent on-ice player, which would be a huge error.

What level of interest would the Jets have in Savard or Nutivaara? Either would be available in a deal. (Please note, I'm not suggesting Savard+Anderson = Laine+Roslovic, or anything close.)

Savard yes, nutivaara no since at least 2 of Samberg, heinola and poolman are set to occupy the 4/5/6 d spots in the jest this year so nutivaara doesn’t make too much sense. Savard would be a good guy next to JoMo or heinola but I’m not sure what he’s cost. Columbus fans have been wanting a first and I personally think that’s absurd considering his most recent season. I would pay a 2nd and b prospect like Stanley for him if we can’t get a longer term guy in the offseason.

This ain’t it.... Columbus can’t possibly afford to keep Laine and we really don’t have a top pair LHD to replace Werenski, Murray isn’t healthy enough to do it.

As for your extensions you’re off pretty badly;
Bjorkstrand- he was Columbus best forward last year, if he replicates that he’s probably 5 mil.
Savard would be let go and Peeke could replace him easily enough.
Murray would probably get the same contract that Savard would have gotten.
I’d also guess that Texier gets 2.5 if not more. And that doesn’t include the extensions the following season for Jones, Foudy, Bremstrom, and one of Korpisalo or Merzlinkins. Possible yes, realistic not really.

I don't see a first being a likely price for Sav. I think a 2020 2nd plus a prospect would be enough, but Stanley might not be a fit with how slow he is. Don't know whether the Jets would consider sending Gawanke or Gustafsson instead.

Considering gawanke is our best rd prospect on a very thin pool of rd prospects, I don’t see him going anywhere. As for gustafsson, he is literally our only centre prospect who has a chance of making the jets soon imo. So no.

Stanley isn’t slow, his pivots and acceleration are (acceleration not so much anymore though). His overall speed is actually quite good. Also considering how much better his skating has gotten every year, I think he will be a good nhl defensemen. I don’t expect him to be beyond a 4th d at best but still, he should be a serviceable guy. Just my speal on him

Also considering the jets 2020 2nd is 40 oa, I don’t see them moving it unless they get someone with more term for it. Otherwise, they draft a guy like grans or villeneuve.
