Description
Unless Pietrangelo takes a little less for more term in STL, it’s painfully obvious in this market he won’t get the term x money he’s asking for unless he goes to a bottom feeding team. He goes for a 9 x 5 in Vegas during their cup window he can play out the remainder of his prime years competing for a cup. Vegas would also pick up Nick Shore as he’s experienced in playing a 4C role, and Jurco who can replace the body Pirri left behind essentially.

Vegas decides to pay Winnipeg to take stastny, adding on Pirri who has seemed to be held down by Vegas’ depth, and a 2021 2nd. In return, they bring in disgruntled prospect in Roslovic who signs a .925 x 1 as a prove me for Vegas.

Vegas pays LAK a 1st in order to buyout Marc Andre Fleury, but also includes former LA defender Brayden McNabb in the deal, gets back a 2nd and a 4th as well. Fleury takes a .950 x 1 deal because in his buyout, he is getting paid 2,083,333 for 4 years. That gives him financial security and he can also ride out the remainder of his career and look to pick up more cups with low cap hit deals.

Based on the athletic article today, it seems like Fleury wants to be a starter. I can't see him coming back after they trade him, someone buys him out, and they re-signed the guy who stole his job in the first place. If he'll come that cheaply there would be quite a few teams in the market hoping he'll rediscover his old form. If he does want to be a starter, that might be a better move, since he won't have that opportunity in Vegas

why would the kings want Fleury's money on their cap for 4 years when they are already paying kopitar and doughty 21 million a year? id like to think they want to be good soon

and why would fleury agree to this? he could make 4 million and pick from several teams while still getting his buyout money

Not trading Roslovic for Stastny, that's a bad deal for the Jets, no thanks.

Pretty sure the CBA forbids a buyout on a player and then resigning him cheaper.

Stastny return will be more like a 3rd or 4th rounder.
Jets should not be moving Roslovic for him.

And it will cost more than a 1st rounder to dump Fleury to anybody.

The Flames did the same with Michael Stone last offseason

New CBA goes into effect next season, Pretty sure it forbids this. But might be wrong.

So LA trade pick 35 and 97 for pick 29, the right to pay Fleury 8.333333 mil and McNabb. All so Vegas can save 5.05 mil to get Fleury back and clear enough cap so they can sign Pietrangelo and Lehner.

I see no flaw in the plan. Or trading McNabb and Tuch to LAK also saves Vegas the same amount of cap space....
