He’s the best 2 way d on a great team. I don’t think it’s gunna be cheap to add that element to the leafs

Yes. Game 6 of the playoffs he called nick Leddy the best player on the ice and the isles writer for the athletic stated trotz loves Leddy, he’s not getting traded. I mean obviously Lou has a say but if his coach just took a team to the ECF and wants to keep a certain player.... they would have saved money keeping toews

I heard in nashvillle trotz had a lot of pull when it came to free agency, trades. Pretty sure Poile drafted players that trotz would want in his system.

Trotz is the reason why Nate Schmidt was left exposed in the expansion draft - he definitely has more say than most coaches

I’ve been saying he’s overrated for a while because he makes a lot of self defeating moves. This guy played boychuk over Dobson for most of the season and at one point had Tom kuhnhackl on barzal’s line. Go look up that RAPM chart...

Trotz gets too much credit for the isles success. They win games because of great goaltending and because of guys like beauvillier, pulock, Nelson, and eberle who really don’t get the recognition they deserve.

It's hard to argue since the team is rather similar but worse since he came in with Tavares leaving. Makes Trotz look good.

Trotz is obviously a very good coach, I wouldn’t say he’s an elite coach like MSM makes him out to be. I’d give just as much credit to Mitch korn the goalie guru. Varlamov was a top 10 G this season and without pelech the isles defense was league average. Korn could probably take Martin Jones and make him a top 10-15 G.

That’s what happens when you have an overrated coach who has major influence on personnel decisions. It is what it is. Noah Dobson will be a #1 D by the end of the next season so it’s all good.
