The reason edmonton makes the chiasson trade is a cap dump otherwise they keep him because he has been good, there just wouldn't be a spot for him if puljujarvi comes back.

If players were given a rating of "trades on this site" divided by "exciting", Chiasson would get the highest rating. Closely followed by Roussel. Then probably Weal.
And Mtl is involved in all the trades with the first two of course...

There's a big difference between paying for rentals when you are making a playoff push as opposed to playing for rentals when you are restructuring. Winnipeg wouldn't do it.
