As a Caps fan I probably wouldn't do that. We have a 100 good LHD, think Siegs is the perfect player to partner him with. Vrana is so so so so good. I like Yamamoto though.

Seems unwise to trade an area of weakness (young top winger) for an area of strength (LD). Need to package up a young LD and a pick for another youngish winger now that Vrana is gone.

Not a chance oilers do this trade. Klefbom who is on a team friendly contract plus Yamamoto who was on pace for a point a game for Vrana and a 3rd.

Yamamoto was a point per game player after christmas. He came up from the minors and Draisaitl's line became the best line in the NHL in points scored during that period. i'd say there is less than 0% chance he is traded.

Oilers are giving up much more. Klefbom is the Oilers most offensive D. Number 1 pp guy for them. He has been injured a lot but still a LHD who will put up 40+ points in 82 games consistently at this point in his career. He contract is really good. Yamamoto broke out in the new year. 26 points in 27 games. Moving yamo for vrana would just be a sideways move except he's 3 years younger, which is obviously better if he stays consistent now. Therefore, your basically trading a 3rd for either yamo or klef and both are worth more. If you want a top young paring D, 2nd paring st the worst on some teams, on a really good contract and a young blue chip prospect who is now just breaking out at almost a point per game for a 50 point player the last 2 seasons you will have pay a first not a 3rd. And even then probably a mid round first. Oilers need klefbom, again especially because of his contract and I really don't see them moving yamo especially that he just broke out unless a team blows the Oilers managements socks off. Which I do not think the caps will want to do that when they have plenty of other options around the league that will do just fine and cost much cheaper. Bad luck mostly. In pretty sure one injury was form breaking a finger after blocking a shot and while healing from that he ended up getting a staff infection in his leg. I think he's had a nagging shoulder issue too.

I thought the Oilers needed/wanted another Top 6 player. It sounds like they already have one in Yamamoto. Oh well...

They needed a right wing and a left Wing before yamo, now they just need a top 6 left wing. They are not panicking though because they have tyler ennis as an option and are planning on watching the UFA and unqualified free agent market this year which should have a few steals. In about a year they will trade either klefbom or nurse though.
