Pionk was arguably our best defensemen last year. I wouldn't do that

I agree, makes no sense in general as pionk is better than Ristolinen so trading him than bringing a guy on a higher cap hit just makes no sense.

I say a mid prospect and a 2nd gets a Daunault trade done.

I think danault will cost about the same as Hayes. So a first, a 3rd, and a young bottom 6 roster player/b prospect.

So I propose from the jets: 2021 1st and niku (much better than Lemieux) for danault.

Pageau also cost a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with an extension so I would add a 3rd if he came with an extension

Well I guess it’s time to flip the script from Habs fans making proposals that jets fans quiver about to now the jets fans making proposals that Habs fans quiver about.
If Bergevin doesn’t get a deal that he can’t refuse for Danault he’s not moving anywhere unless Danault chooses to leave after his contract is up. He’s too valuable to the young centres we have still growing. Their development isn’t finished and Danault allows the coach to shelter them when needed.

Pageau was bought at the deadline when teams are willing to pay more for a player. Ottawa did not really need to trade him which was one of the reasons the price was high. Pagueau also was 6 goals away from 30 so of course the price was high. Danault would probs cost either a late 1st on its own or one of winnipegs good prospects and a 2nd. As for which prospect, no idea. Danaults main asset is his defensive abilities but his goal scoring is something to be desired. 14 goals this year is okay but i dont think that equates to a pageau return.

Honestly though is I was winnipeg I would go for Cirelli or Stasny. Stasny wont cost much to get and will be good 2nd center

Not arguably, he was.

If Pionk was 6'3", 210 Lbs. we'd never consider trading him.

What ? The value of Danault should be the same of Pageau and Hayes.

Pionk will come in higher then risto on his next contract which is next off season. If he gets up to 50 points again be closer to 6.5 I imagine. Risto brings size, bigger shot on the Pp and change of scenery might reinvigorate him and young enough we could resign him if we chose to. Were also getting a 2c in Danault in those two exchanges

Petry is getting on in years and is a UFA, they might consider it.

Even then, a first plus a b prospect is what 50-60 pt centres go for so I think that’s just what they will have to pay.

Personally, if we get one of lundell, rossi, or perfetti, or even Jarvis (of jets management sees him as a centre, I go for stastny. We won’t likely have to give up anything to get him (in fact we probably get something for taking him) and he would be a good stopgap. As for cirelli, I think he’s option number 1 if the draft doesn’t of as planned.

I disagree that he was our best d in general since I think JoMo was still better all round (and got the harder mins) but at times he definitely was our best.

I completely agree on the size. I think he would already have an extension lol

From what I hear Danault wants to play center and big minutes, if the habs think Suzuki and Kotkienemi are going to pass him in the next few years or he does he may not want to resign. You'd still have Domi, flipping Danualt for a top four RHD isn't a bad move and a defense of

Chariot Webber
Edmundson Pionk
Romanov Petry

Is pretty solid for one year, mix the pairings as you will.

No Samberg or Heinola?

It can be tough making the jump from College to the NHL and Heinola would probably be served well by another year over in Europe or in the AHL. His contract slides so we still have him on an ELC for another three years after this if he plays in either of those leagues.
