Description
IF they can get Vlad for that money then sign him, if not then a guy like Wilson from Nashville or Fast from New York. I like Vlad's two way game and the fact that he could be the third line centre of the future for this team. Money to sign Andersen, Hyman, Rielly and lots of picks moving forward. Overall offence is down, but defensively a much better team, especially on the backend. If Sandin/Liljegren aren't ready, then sign Dermott for 1.3 mill and send them down to the minors, although I'd like to see both of them next year at some point. Nylander in NY would give them the best two lines in hockey, and he could be moved back to centre. Forgot about Mikheyev; maybe they sign him for 1.5 million, two years and hold off on Koivu.

What is the plan for Ilya?
Dubas may not go for that third line as he appreciates speed and that line would be out skated every night.
Nylander will get you much more than a first overall down the road from an up and coming team.

Solid strategy to turn them into oldest, slowest team in the league.

Is the plan to sign 5+ aging vets every year for next 3 or 4 years?

Also, deal Nylander for a great young RHD rather then sign aging declining vets.

Moving him for 2 lottery tickets is a horrible idea.

Yeah I forgot to sign Mikeyev, I'd leave Koivu off. Engvall's pretty fast for a guy his size, and from what i've read Barbanov has good speed.

If it gets them out of the first round, sure.

I know there are reports of Simmonds in Toronto but man I hope not for your sake. He looked washed up last year.

The problem is TO might not get fair value in return for Nylander. He has potential, and I stress the word potential for any Leafs haters out there, to reach 35-40 goals, and 80 points a season. There's no GM's out there willing to give up a top RH or LHD for that matter for Nylander, and I wouldn't take anything less than a Pesce, and I don't think Carolina wants to change their blueline. Columbus could use Nylander's offence, but Jones and Werenski are not coming to Toronto.

Maybe they can trade him with some picks for Cozens in Buffalo, i dunno. But Buffalo might not do that deal. The fan base is tired of a rebuild and Nylander would help their top 6.

I don't agree, but if that is the case it makes absolutely zero sense to toss him away for like a 35% chance to have a nhl player 3 or 4 yrs from now. And that's nhl player, it's way less likely than that to get an impact player.

Unless they can get a top prospect for him like Cozens from Buffalo for Nylander and some picks added. The issue is also his contract. Alot of teams lost money this season and with the cap staying where it is, are weary of taking on big deals.

Then keep him. Any avoid overpaying UFAs for their declining years.
