Fair enough, I think this deal is only a thought if the Flames somehow got Pietrangelo which I don't see happening. I think teams will value Monahan less than what us as fans do because they look at his numbers with Gaudreau they see a player that is a great 2C but they're not looking to acquire him as a 1C

I've been a big fan of his game for a while now. Last year was an anomaly, he's a 60 pt center who plays a really good two way game. The Rangers don't need a 1C , they need a cost controlled 2C with Mika Zib's impending UFA after next season. He's likely to run them 7x10.5 or more, so getting a 2C of Monahans caliber/cap hit would do them wonders. But what do I know

Monahan is not the center they are looking for and his underlying numbers are not encouraging (Possession: 49.04 CF%, -2.21 C/60, -2.12 CFRel%; Expected Goals: 47.91 xGF%, -0.22 xG/60, -0.27 xGFRel%).

If they were to look at anyone from Calgary it would be Lindholm who is cheaper and has better metrics across the board.

Also costs you double what Monahan does.
