I think he'll come back if he feels confident that they truly believe in him again.
To me, it felt like he kind of lost confidence in himself and needed something to lean on. Between making the roster out of camp, to barely getting any minutes, to being sent down, to all of his struggles while in Hartford, it felt to me not that he was just mad they sent him down but more that he felt like he was doing the right things and no one else saw it, and that can be mentally draining. Then the bad habits he built as a result of trying to be able to talk to his friends and family more, now he's back in Sweden, hockey is fun again, he's back to doing the things that got him drafted (a bit too) high. If he gets the impression he's going to get a legit shot on Broadway and that the staff believes in him and the way he plays, then I think he'd be willing to come back, but if he feels like they're going to bury him again, give a player like Brett Howden, who has been really truly awful, and the Rangers finally seem to be somewhat understanding of that later in the season, giving him less time and moving him to the wing, the leg up on him for whatever reason, then I hope he stays in Sweden.
