Petro will be getting 9.5x8 from other contenders, so he is unlikely to take less than that.

Also without moving out money you are seriously risking losing Landeskog and other players in the following years.

This would put the Avs in a similar spot as the Leafs when they signed Tavares. Better keep that money for Makar, Landeskog and Grubauer.

It’d be nice, but considering what they have in the system for D, I think it’d be better to address other needs. Like goaltending and forward depth beyond the first line and PP unit.

Any Pietro/Hall contract can't be longer than 2-3 years. We can pay them more now if need be, but term is limited.

thats an awful deal for Pietro, hes been declining defensively over the last few years. Anyone who gives him that sort of contract is just asking for a buyout layer, such a bad idea

$24M in cap space in that off season check the long term tab. Does it make things tighter, sure. Does it make it impossible no. Would I give him a 5yr deal? No.

I think you'd have to find a way to get some money going out somehow, trading Compher or Donskoi. The Petro thing is tempting but it's very high-risk.

Yep. Nobody is going to get the value out of the contract that he signs. I think everyone should just let the Leafs make another mistake.

Yep. And when MacKinnon is up to re-sign, Erik Johnson will be gone. I think signing Makar, Landeskgog, and a goalie is realistic too, esp considering that Ian Cole's 4 million will be gone too.
