Boychuk/Greene: Greene is a UFA; if he wants to stay with the Islanders for another year, he’ll likely have to wait and see how Lamoriello’s moves shake out. Boychuk, as mentioned above, is owed far less actual money than his $6 million cap hit. So, even at his age, there’s a chance a team looking for cap dollars and not real dollars might take him after his signing bonus is paid out. There’s a chance neither of these elder statesmen will be back, but if one of them returns for 2020-21, it’s likely in a 6/7 role.

Ladd: Lamoriello exiled Stephane Robidas in Toronto, sending the veteran away while giving a vague injury designation (it was a knee problem). It was known as Robidas Island at the time. With the Islanders in urgent need of cap space, Ladd and his twice-repaired knees may end up somewhere else to start next season, though not in the AHL this time, since the Isles will need all $5.5 million of Ladd’s cap hit most likely. So Ladd Lagoon it may be, provided Lamoriello can’t persuade the Wild to take Ladd’s contract in a possible Zach Parise deal (or anyone else to take Ladd, for that matter).

Eberle: If the Islanders want to bring in a top-six scoring winger, one of their current wingers has to go. Eberle has a full no-trade clause with the deal he signed last offseason, so would he waive it to go to, say, Minnesota in a revamped Zach Parise deal? One of the many unknowns that have to be sorted out this upcoming offseason. If Eberle doesn’t waive, then any new Islanders addition would be on the cheap.

The Wild are not retaining on Parise if they are trading him. He’s still the Wild’s best goal scorer (sad, I know) and the whole point to trading him would be to get rid of the cap hit.

The Wild would essentially be paying Jordan Eberle nearly $15mil per year over the next 3 years since Ladd wouldn't crack the lineup...

Please stop saying “help Ottawa reach the cap floor” that’s not a thing. We’ll reach the floor fine and regardless it’s not value you are providing

If Ladd ends up LTIR, I have a strong suspicion the league will come down heavily on the Isles and wouldn't be surprised if they already have a case building in case he does. In normal times it might have flown, but with everyone in money trouble I can't see them getting away with it.

Totally agree. He's clearly healthy since he played in the playoffs. Ladd would have to agree to any scam placement of him on LTIR and it doesn't seem like he would. Plus I am sure other teams would complain.

I absolutely can not see Minnesota making that deal, you ask them to retain 50%, give them your trash and then play Parise on the first line?

I am curious why you would dump Eberle?

We’ll see, but the fact is he wants to play in the NHL and the isles won’t give him that opportunity.

He probably won’t end up on LTIR this season, they need to give him big minutes in the AHL because it’s inevitable that he’ll get injured and have to go on LTIR.

Im not sure why we’re trading eberle either, he’s our 2nd best offensive play driver.

I feel like the 1st deal is pretty smart.

The 2nd one I think needs some work

So better than the odds of the Wild taking on ~$15m in cap without really improving? Every time I feel like I've seen the worst ACGM possible, someone says hold my beer.

I don’t know why people still make ACGM with Parise going to the isles when we have 3 RFAs to sign and a flat cap

Isles wouldn’t even do ladd for parise straight up

It doesn't make any sense now, maybe slightly before they extended Pageau. But really there isn't a remote chance the Wild have $15m in cap essentially tied up for Eberle.

Jeez, no matter how many times insiders say “Lou will try to LTIR Ladd”, people will come out of the woodwork to say “it won’t happen, the Isles are just stuck in cap hell”. I’m not even saying it will work out in Lou’s favor, but if it’s a foregone conclusion that LTIR isn’t an option, why is Staple talking about it? Like, I get it, it’s more fun to talk about Barzal offer sheets, but what’s the point of everyone on this site harping on realism if everyone’s just going to ignore the stuff they don’t agree with?

I think people for some reason think Parise is already on the level of Andrew Ladd? No chance this deal happens.
