Because the available options are all either better or cheaper and Calgary wouldn't have to give up an asset. Calgary pursues Kuemper in a trade, a UFA or re signs Talbot before exploring Andersson.

Andersen would be a significant upgrade over Talbot tho

Out of all the garbage Leaf's related AGM's I actually think this one is pretty good.
CGY is in need of a goalie and, in this situation, they lose out on Markstrom so Andersen is a decent option for next year. The cost Im not too sure on as I am a Bennett fan
Maybe get rid of all those late picks in the Kerfoot deal and have him traded straight up for a 3rd rounder
NJD deal is fine and so are the rest of the UFA's...IMO of course

Better off doing Anderson for a 2nd. If I were the Flames I'm not giving up a 24 year old forward who played well in the playoffs for a 30 year old goalie who has 1-year left on his deal.

As I said above though, options would be better or cheaper. Andersen is better than Talbot but Talbot will cost at most 3.5 per year for a couple seasons as opposed to 5. If the Flames decide that their window is slamming shut in a couple seasons then sure they spend big on a goalie, if you're worried about a playoff window though you aren't trading Bennett.

Kerfoot might get a 2nd, but for the sake of simplicity (and less arguments) make make it a 3rd with conditions to become a 2nd and drop the late picks.
