Losing Myers would be a metaphorical kick in the balls but if this is the offer I think Philly says yes. That much cap relief while getting Marner under 9 million is too hard to pass up. Doubt this would ever in a million years happen though

Yeah Flyers decline. The truth is, there’s not going to be any teams that will have interest in acquiring Marner given the way he played this season. We’re gonna have to have to keep him for another year & hope he improves, OR terminate his contract.

Yeah myers is untouchable, but in a Marner trade TOR would ask for him first. Myers should be a flyer for life.

If Toronto trades him they're not retaining salary. No matter what you read on here the Leafs LOVE Marner and have absolutely no desire to move him. It would have to be a great offer.

The Philly D I want is Provorov. Doesn't matter which way he shoots, he's such an excellent defender. Not sure if that's a one-for-one, but I would love to see the Leafs add him.

Not related to the trade here, but what do you want to see out of Marner? 200 pts in a season? I get that he plays with great linemates, but he was on pace to match his production from last season and his possession numbers were all greatly improved. Yes, he's overpaid, and yes, I'm sure the point total is buoyed by guys like Matthews and Tavares, but I'm not sure what more anyone should be expecting?

The Leafs can send him through unconditional waivers & they won’t have to pay a penny.

marner is an excellent player who used his leverage of outstanding production at a young age to get a player friendly contract.

leafs fans are entitled brats.

We want to see more consistency from him & better performances in the playoffs. This season, Mitch was awfully hot & cold. At the start & end of the regular season, he was horrendous, didn’t get involved in the play much at all. During the middle, he was outstanding. His playoffs were average, but more is expected from a top player.

He needs to have 1 arm lobbed off in a fight , score 45 goals , block shots, pinch 2 shutouts a season and then maybe just maybe he'll worth 9 million

Terminate and renegotiate. Works for all parties except his agent.

tears of joy And the player himself, unless you're still giving him the same money over the same term.

I mean, you're paying the guy to put up points, and according to his 2019-2020 game log, the longest span that he went without at least 1 in a game was 2 consecutive games. That's...not bad...

I feel like you're possibly playing into the Toronto media love/hate relationship with players.

I agree that Marner is overpaid (probably by 1.5 million or so) but I'd be far more concerned about acquiring JVR @ 7 Mil per year at this point and that doesn't even factor in the 2 Million in retained salary in this proposal. Marner didn't meet the high expectations placed upon him this season (he was only on pace for 93 points...) and his RTP performance was lacklustre but I feel like 5 games after a 5 month break is too small sample size to adequately judge. I would decline this proposal but I feel like a lot of frustrated fans would pull the trigger on this.

Why doesn’t Vancouver do that with Eriksson, Devils with Subban, Islanders with Boychuk or Ladd, Penguins with Johnson, Wings with Abdelkader, Sharks with Vlasic, ect.

Surely it doesn’t work that way.

The player has to agree to it since they’re not making a single penny on whatever term remains of their deal.

Yeah I admit it feels better as long as he scores a point but this season, most of them were second assists & empty net goals. We didn’t see enough magic from him.
