Description
OK SO, I saw the signing of Georgiev on here and thought what a great idea. yes, you give a draft pick but you get someone who will keep the competition between goal at a high level and if Hart falls then Georgiev is there. it would have to be clear to both Goalies that Hart is the #1 starter so maybe that would be a deal breaker for Georgiev, but its worth a try.

the trade of Niskanen can be anywhere.

I understand the trade of Jake is lopsided but Jake is declining and if someone is willing to take his contract then great. Rasmus is no worse than Ghost albeit at a higher salary but I still think necessary

Now, I wouldn't trade Jake if I thought and/or knew that Nolan Patrick wasn't ready to resume his career

Pitlick might get more on the open market and if so then if Wade is ready then I wouldn't sign anyone else. If not I would sign Grant or Thompson

either way I think you still have a healthy competition between the bottom 3

Nice to have so much depth that a top 15 pick from 5 years ago is 6th on the LD depth chart. 😉. Sucks that he has been surpassed by players picked behind him and was a bad pick. But half the teams in the league he would be playing In the NHL by now.

If buffalo wasn't going with a stupid internal 70 million dollar cap while our owners build a 250 million dollar super yacht, I would be all for this move.

Playing in the NHL with a big cap hit can be far worse than playing in the AHL with no cap hit.

“At least he plays in the NHL,” wouldn’t be a very good excuse for offering loui eriksson for a teams best AHL prospect.

Mmmmm I don't know. I think I'd make that deal if I were Boston. Assuming Krug walks, Ghost basically slides into Krug's spot and could take the #1PP role to keep and OFD LS up there. I know he had a down year, but he's shown to be a 40+ producer while also being a decent shot blocker. Last 3 years among all NHL D-men

Goals - 27th
Points - 24th
Shots - 30th
ixG - 23rd
iCF - 27th
Reb - 12th

I think he's got 3yr left at $4.5 mil which is a $1 million less than Krug was making to play that role. 2 years ago he put up 65 points and he's still only 26yr old / 3yr older than Zboril.

Give McAvoy PP1 mins, he's due. Gostisbehere on the second with Grzelcyk.

It depends what else they do. 4.5m for 3 years of someone you have to play 3rd pairing and PP is steep. Rather trade 2nd in 21 and Moore for Yandle. Panthers save almost 4m in cap space and B’s don’t have to “hide” Yandle.

If they bring an only defensive LD man than Ghost would be an option but more of a last resort.

Would he be a 3rd pairing guy though? Assuming Chara doesn't retire...

Chara/Grz - McAvoy
Ghost - Carlo
Grz/Chara - Lauzon

Basically Grz and Chara split TOI with McAvoy depending on the game situation (similar to what they did during the playoffs).

Now assuming Chara retired

Grz - McAvoy
Ghost - Carlo
Zboril/Lauzon - Lauzon/ Clifton

1st preference would be Zboril/Lauzon, but if Lauzon plays the LHD then Clifton is the RHD. I also played around with another idea where you'd add Zadorov (most mocks seem to be 3rd rounder) then you're left side

Zadorov/Grz - McAvoy
Ghost - Carlo
Grz/Zadorov - Lauzon

Similar deal as Chara only Zadorov is the guy. McAvoy's partner can rotate based on game situation like I mentioned above.

It’s not ideal obvi but Toronto signed Ceci and didn’t try to trade for a Zboril type wild card

I could lace up some skates and play better than Johnson

I'd have no problem with McAvoy there. My suggestion of Ghost is simply because he and Krug are both LHD and play a similar style. Change the point man to a RHD would require some adjustments in how they run some plays, but it's not impossible. If they wanted to keep a LHD at the 1PP then its less adjustments.

I just don’t trust him. Seen a lot of Flyers games the last couple of years. He’s pretty much a detriment if not on the PP.

I think Yandle or Leddy can be had fairly reasonable.

They can’t really fill LD1 through free agency. It’s either trade Debrusk for a one and then add a wing, or two, or mixing and matching a bunch of 3-5’s throughout the LD which is not ideal.

Well, Adams has not yet confirmed 70 million, let's see how it will be in practice. Although I have already read over the past couple of days that there is / was an interest in Kessel and there is an interest in Saad.

No, but his shortcomings were overblown. He was bad early in his career, the last couple of years he was decent enough, was not going to win any awards, but was solid enough.

He also had one of the premier young shutdown d-man on this opposite side to cover for him. I think Ghost would do well with Carlo and fit how Cassidy/Sweeney like smooth skating d-men.

Make that trade, sign Debrusk and Grizz for 3.5 and 3. You have 1.5 left in cap space. Think they are in good shape? They are worse off than the last few years. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If they can package Moore, Bjork, Ritchie somewhere for a couple of late picks and use the space for someone like Dillon snd Fast maybe.

The difference is really if you have Chara or not. Krug is replaced by a similar style player in Ghost and has shown he can be a 50pt d-man. You can also put Moore/Ritchie in the minors and pickup around $2 million in cap space.
